A friend is moving here to TV's on or around the 8th of November....he will just have about 20 boxes of stuff and just a few pieces of furniture...

Is anyone available to assist? We could get it done in just a short bit....

Cassie, Helping Hands is about people with true needs and disabilities. Is this person disabled?

Samm,

Thank you for posting this concern but below are the guidelines for this forum and I don't think I violated them...

I actually thought it might be nice for us to help out our friends here on TOTV....if it is a simple job....that they are going to do themselves anyway....just thought it would be nice to lend a helping hand....

No one is obligated by any means to assist on this project or any other. We are all friends here and this is a good way to reach out...stating that one of us needs help....come help if you want....my guess is that beer and pizza or something of the like would be supplied....

Again...a friend from TOTV mentioned their plan....I thought it would be nice to get help....while everyone coming together to welcome them officially to TV's.

We have all done favors for friends before....and this is just me asking anyone else if they want to be a welcoming helping hand.

IF our admins think this is inappropriate posting....surely they will move it and I apologize....just thought this would be a good place for it.:shrug:

Posting guides for Helping Hands

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Whenever you need assistance, post a note here.

Those who wish to respond should send a Private Message (PM) to get connected with the person who needs you.

Responders should keep private any information they gain here. You should only tell others with the permission of the person who originally needed the help.

If as a volunteer you discover something life threatening, of course, notify the proper emergency responders.

This forum is for person to person help from volunteers. Non-commercial help. Non-professional help.

Cassie, I don't think you violated any rules set out by the admins, but Sam started this and I really don't think "moving in" was her intention. I think we would be swamped with people that would want us to help with that! I know I would have shouted out with the hundreds of boxes I had! LOL

Maybe they could put up an additional Forum called "Welcome Wagon" or something like that. It's an idea.

I LOVE that idea! Let's see what we can do about that~!!

Cassie, no good deed goes unpunished........

I just read, again, the guidelines posted by Tony for the "Helping Hands" forum and don't see anywhere that it is for disabled residents. It appears to me that it is for ANYONE who might need a "helping hand". The guidelines state:

"Whenever you need assistance, post a note here.

Those who wish to respond should send a Private Message (PM) to get connected with the person who needs you.

Responders should keep private any information they gain here. You should only tell others with the permission of the person who originally needed the help.

You friend may wish to hire professional off-loaders, however, especially if he/she is arriving in an 18-wheeler :1rotfl:

Cassie. NOW HERE is where you can tell the difference between the 32 year old YOU are and the 60 something I am.

Kindness and love and support and community effort is interpreted differently by the age of the vertebrae.

KathieI .... I guess for pizza and beer I can carry a box or two. :coolsmiley: However, knowing the way some of these folks can woof down pizza and beer, it might be less expensive for Cassie's friend to hire professional off-loaders. I mean I've seen some of them in action at Johnny Rockets - wow!

I would like to leave this kind of post seeking help here. I would guess that
newcomers could seek assistance either in the New Members Forum or here,
and those seeking help in their behalf could post here.

Let's see how it works. We haven't seen a lot of traffic, but what little has
been here has been important.

Our goal is to find help for those who want it.

The good hearts of The Villagers really does amaze me.

Excellent decision Tony. It certainly appeared to me that Cassie was fulfilling the original intent of this new section of TOTV; that is, seeking help for someone. Whether able-bodied or not, it's nice to know that ANY member of TOTV can ask for help here. Yes, an excellent decision and a sign of good leadership.

Well, Cassie325, I don't know if I'll be in TV at that time but if I am I wouldn't mind helping out. :icon_wink: I hope it's good NY-style pizza because after 25 years in Colorado and Arizona, I could use something better than Little Caesars. If I don't get there in time, though, please save me a slice!

PS....34 almost 35....I know a few years seems silly to bring up but a few years make a BIG difference!!
Love to you!

Friendship doubles our joy and divides our grief.-- Swedish proverb

As they say in da Bronx, "Ain't it da trut"

OK....so no more help is needed...thank you all for your replies...we have a good group of STRONG people coming to help....as our friend decided to hire out! LOL...all this trouble for that...so I have made them promise the PIZZA and BEER anyway....now Kathie can come HELP OUT....with the pizza and beer that is!

So thanks for the offers of help...there were many and I agree with Tony with what he said about the hearts of TV's! Especially here on TOTV!! Thanks again everyone!!
