What a perversion of honesty and honor. When I joined the Army in 1966 I was promised free Health care for life as payment for my sacrifice. I was single, 19 years old and in perfect health, so I was not impressed. I left the army after my three year commitment in 1969 to live proud and free in America. Well, as time went by, I fell in love, married my wife of 40 years and soon we had our first of two children. That was my first experience of needing health insurance. After much thought, we decided that being in the military with a lifetime of free health coverage would be well worth the inconvenience that comes with moving every few years and low pay. By the time I retired in 1988 I had already lost any health care for my eyes, teeth and hearing for me and my wife. Then came the famous combination of services into the tri-care system. With it came a cost, but not excessive and it is a good program so we continued to live, love and raise our two children.
Everything has gone as promised since retirement other than the cost of tri-care and the loss of coverage for eyes, teeth and hearing which ironically is the main expense of heath care for folks our age.
Then along came the McCain Health Care Plan. His plan is not a loss of another piece of coverage or even a simple increase in cost of our FREE HEALTH CARE. With his proposed plan, we will either give up a major portion of our retirement plans or live without any health care coverage. Ask anyone that pays for their insurance coverage if they can get a good plan for two folks over 60 for 5000 dollars.
I am still very proud that I served my country, however, I do feel foolish for voting republican over the past 40 plus years. I will give the Democrats my support in November.
