Donna...can you give us all an ending time or at least a rough estimate...I think you said you would end up at LSL square to dance. I for one can not make the convoy but would love to meet up with you at the square...there may be others as well!

ROLLING ACRES ROAD?? WE can't do that can we? It isn't contiguous to TV. I mean we would all be out on public roads in the DARK. Some big ole truck could wipe us all out and there would be little pieces of a bunch of seniors lying here and there and our grandkids would NEVER stop crying!

I'm hearing rumors that Handie's Halloween Caravan is no longer going from house to house. Instead we are meeting in a parking lot somewhere in a far southern location?

The reason for considering a change is the distance between houses..

It is not set in stone...Some of us spoke to Handi and he thought it would be a good idea to follow the way the July 4th convoy was done, it was a huge success..

We are still in the planning stage..Calm down peeps! All opinions are certainly welcome..It was just a thought!

The house to house convoy sounded like fun, but I understand the logistics could be daunting. The 4th of July party was lots of fun, so why not do that again, only difference we won't have any fireworks to watch. Maybe some ghosts and goblins will come out to entertain us.:a040:

Donna and I have been discussing this for days and it was very hard to come up with a logical, easy route and yet have some fun together. Going to people's houses meant that most of the time we would be in the carts and be spending only about 10 min. in each house. A very disjointed plan and not conducive to having fun and costume contests, etc.

So we put our heads together and spoke to Mr. Handie and he concurred that since July 4 was such a successful venture, we would duplicate the event with some minor changes.

First, we'll all meet in our carts in the parking lot behind the Sales Center in LSL so that we won't be interfering with a public parking lot. There we will start the contest on voting for the best cart decorations and costumes. We may even play games (Handie, how about spin the bottle?? Or Strip Poker??) kidding... of course.

Then we will proceed by caravan up to Truman Rec center parking lot again (or another place if someone has a suggestion). There we will have the tailgate party and anyone who was going to host at their house can bring the finger food to the Truman parking lot and we can party there until the wee hours (probably 9:30 pm, kidding again)....

So, right now, that's the plan, its not in stone, but just our thoughts at the moment.

Hey guys..

You can always take your car and meet us at the LSL Sales Office or the Truman Rec Center..That is where the convoy will end up..There we will have snacks, and lots of laughs..All are welcome to take your car if you don't have a cart yet!

I am sure there will be an update closer to Halloween..Stand by!

The convoy will meet at 6:00PM at the LSL Bus Station...We will go around the square a few times, then back to the station for judging and snacks! Come one, come all..The more the merrier..

Why isn't Handie replying since this was his idea? Why has he disappeared?

I would think now that he is a longer term resident of The Villages he would be more proactive. What has caused him to leave this site?

The is the only reason I posted, is cause lots of peeps have been asking for an update..

I doubt Handi is avoiding the post, he has been in chat at night..

A few weeks ago, Handie asked Donna and I to keep people updated because he's busy working (thank goodness, he has a good amount of work) and at the TOTV lunch last week, he announced that Donna and I would keep everyone updated... But he's very much involved in TOTV its just when you get here, you get busy doing other things than sitting on the puter..... :) Just look at me, I'm either on very early or very late, but during the day, there's too much to dooo... Can't wait for you to get here to enjoy this with us.

We had such a GREAT TIME!!! I forgot my camera, but there were some photos taken. Snacks, drinks, great costumes, carts festively decorated and great company!! Folks around the square were laughing and waving. We enjoyed every minute!!

Handie thanks for getting this together. It was so much fun! Vetman and I had a ball. And it was great to meet Bogart and so wonderful to see Mom2Five. It was a very nice turnout. Beady has pictures. Bare and Rick were wonderful hippies! Hahaha! :laugh:

Handie you had McCain down pat except for his little lobster "air quotes" he's so fond of. Betty! Wow, what a beautiful biker chick! Great peeps! I felt like a kid again! :a040:

To all those who showed up, thank you for dressing up and decorating your carts. Your all great sports. We had wonderfull snacks and great conversations. I have some pictures that I will try to post asap, however my "biker chick" roommate wants to get an early start on todays craft show. SIGH, so much fun, so little time.

It was a lot of fun. I laughed so hard as we made our trip around the square.....my driver(Barefoot) kept yelling "Boo" at folks in the square. They didn't quite know what to make of us.:a20:

We had a great time! Beads and I laughed and laughed. It was so much fun getting dressed up and acting like a kid again.

And then this morning we went to breakfast in our pyjamas with the Village Idiots.
