Business will adjust as you read below or if the constraints are too demanding they will just close up. Either way jobs are decreased and welfare recipients increase. Any wonder why the non-politically correct Trump is popular with those who hate our current political climate.
Big government just never does factor in the “unintended consequences" of their short sighted actions . . .

McDonald’s Announces Its Answer to $15 an Hour Minimum Wage request – Touch-Screen Cashiers
McDonald's Self-service kiosks will expand to at least 2,000 locations in 2015...
This is exactly what the left pushed for.
Fast food chains were never meant to be a place for someone to raise a
Family of 6. They were to be part time positions with some full-time advancements.
Mostly the fast food restaurants were for school aged kids, to learn how to interact
With people, with a job, to offer spending money, and to begin responsibility
Learning for their future.
The part time position was not intended to pay for a house, it is a stepping stone to move on...
$15.00/hr x 8 hrs= $120/day x 5 days= $600/week x 52 weeks = $31,200/year!!
Of course when this happens, like it did today in Los Angeles , the poor and
Unskilled workers will go on unemployment, then on Welfare, and cost American workers. More to support them.
McDonald’s recently came out with their answer to those that want $15/hr pay. Robots!
Many other food chains AND now RESTAURANTS alike are now switching over to kiosks/touchscreens to replace their cashiers, and servers too!
For the same reasons as McDonalds is making this move worldwide, these businesses.
Simply cannot afford to operate and pay your demanded minimum wage of $15 per hour.
Plus benefits to their workers/servers!
Got any other bright ideas big government?
Directly from the rhetoric and demands against America's private businesses,
The left just single handedly put 10’s of thousands of minimum
Wage workers nationwide on the unemployment line!
In addition, big government has caused these minimum
Wage jobs to be permanently eliminated and swept away
From Americas workplace FOREVER !!!

Its a prime example of where progressives are short sighted on their effects of overreach. Their misguided ideology actually is advanced with two beliefs 1) that it can correct nature's inequities 2) it provides more control of the masses
Look at the majority of regulations past in the last seven years. Look at the overreach of the Civil Rights movement, of the feminist movement, of abortion, their applications of monetary policy that continues to sink the economy, the negative affect of political correctness at our educational institutes, of the social lab experiment being conducted and carried out with our military and the attempt at eliminating gender from our species .

Nobody to blame except Lobbists, politicians, CEOs, unions. All have affected jobs over the last 50 years. We done this to ourselves all for greed. Millionaire wasn't enough for the greedy. They had to find ways (cheap labor and parts from out the country) to raise the profits. Nothing wrong with that unless you sell out your employee, your community, and your country. Plus with enough grease get tax break to boot.
Our country allowed this, nobody to blame except use for NOT stopping it 40 years ago.

Excellent post (McDonlads).
I will call it the effect of ever increasing cost of labor with no accompanied increase in revenue to offset the costs.
This is the very reason that millions of USA jobs have been outsourced to lower "labor" cost countries of the world.
Many unions over the years seceded in getting their members more and more money. Finally pricing their labor out of the market or affordability or both.
Now special interests and minority's groups are doing the very same with, of all things, minimum wage jobs.
This is no surprise. And like the union executives who still have their high paying positions, so shall the special interest groups and politicians.
There is NO mystery to the elements of an income statement and the results it drives.
Unless you are a politician or special interest leader or just a uninformed follower!

OK so perhaps the kiosks were not a result of the outrageous minimum wage increase!
They will most certainly provide a basis for a new priority that most certainly has the potential to offset the increased labor costs due to the minimum wage increase!
Maybe since theminimum wage concept has lost it's true purpose there will be another new level, or entry level or trainee level or pre minimum wage level that allows a company to hire those who do not need to be paid $15 and eventually have more of them and less of the big $ help. The entrepenurial survival spirit will kick in and find a way around paying too much for minimal training level work.....which is why it used to be minimum wage......which has all been forgotten.

What you say makes a lot of sense. Blanket doubling the minimum wage may be noble but a bad idea and work arounds would abound. One thing though, going five and ten years at a time with no raise in the minimum wage opens the door to these fixes.

Better a robot than a heavily accented Indian from New Delhi. Had that happen a few times at the Jack in the Box drive thru.

Most states set their own minimum wage. That's a better way to do it, not via the Feds. Every area has a different cost of living and what is adequate in SC may not be enough in NY. Time to fire the gov nanny.

There should be state guidelines that the individual businesses can use to determine what fits their respective businesses. The notion that a "minimum wage" justified in one business is like the minimum wage in any other business.
Anybody with one ounce of business accumen would know that is ridiculous and just plain political.

I agree, but the idea that someone posted that there has not been an increase in so many years, is not correct. Each state sets minimum wages. Personally, I don't believe it to be constitutional, for the gov to dictate how much I can pay for a service, but if the courts support the gov, what can you do. Just another example of subtle tyranny.
For some reason, you have those that have never had to search for a job, that think that jobs are so hard to find that they should be able to survive on minimum wages. Minimum wages are not normally full time jobs, but jobs for teenagers, second jobs/part-time jobs or wives wanting to get out of the house, or seniors that don't want to stay home or to supplement their retirement. If you don't like how much you earn, then find another job. I've had many, many jobs since I was 14 years old. I was never forced to stay at one job and I don't think the law has changed in that respect.
