If you take this supplement. Were the results significant/ noticeable?

If you don't mind would you share with us the reason you decided to take it?

What strength did you decide on; 100 mg or200 mg per day?

Feel free to PM me.

I have been taking CoQ10 for almost 30 years.

It boosts your immune system. When we are young, our bodies make CoQ10 from the food we eat. As we reach our 30's, our bodies don't make it as efficiently anymore and by the time we reach 60 or so, our bodies stop making it at all.

CoQ10 has been used for many years in Japan. Pretty much everyone over 30 takes it. They extract it from seaweed- that is how I found out about it long ago-

A friend's podiatrist son, living in Alaska, contracted with a Japanese pharmaceutical company to raise seaweed (for CoQ10) in quonset huts... as a way to supplement himself in his off season. He sent me some literature on it.

I took the literature to my physician and asked him to look at it in his spare time.
He called me back and said, "Not only am I going to take CoQ10, I am going to have my staff and all my senior patients take it."

In subsequent years, I have suggested that a few I know might talk to their doctors/ dentists about possibly taking it. In every case, the physician, dentist or periodontist included it in the person's treatment- including for my brother, who was waiting for what would be a successful a heart transplant.

It is my understanding that CoQ 10 is water soluble, so whatever your body does not use, flushes away. In general, there is not a danger of toxic buildup.
In 30 years I have never had a problem.
I now take a newer improved form- Ubiquinol CoQ 10- it is more efficiently assimilated.

Talk to your Doctors- see what they say.:coolsmiley:

Also wanting to know the source and brand to buy it!! I'd taken this supplement for awhile but I know NOT all brands are the same (some you "flush" right out of your system and some aren't worth the $$ spent). I'm not currently taking this but should begin to, again.

My cardiologist recommended this supplement to alleviate muscle aches from taking statins to control cholesterol. To my surprise, it works. I take 100 mg and started with whatever the house brand was at the Medicine Chest. I've since moved on to Doctors Best Ubiquinol from Amazon. The Ubiquinol form of Co-Q-10 seems to absorb more easily in older folks.

Coenzyme Q10 Background - Mayo Clinic (http://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements/coenzyme-q10/background/hrb-20059019)

Might be wise to check interactions with other drugs.

I've read the same thing. A nutritionist told me to change from one 100 mg/per day to two 50/mg per day (to spread it out.)
I recently saw an article that recommended your COQ-10 is made in the USA, yeast fermentation, trans-form and contains peperine. Of course, they were pushing their product. I cannot find any of this info on my bottle of Swanson Ubiquinol (other than the fact that it is made in Canada). So I don't know if I am flushing my $$ down the drain.
Would love to hear specific information from those who feel it has really benefited them and which brand they take, where they got it and cost. Thank you.
