My best friends son has just been diagnosesed with Malignant Melanoma. Already traveled to lung, liver, nodes. Bryan is 26, and a 2nd ER Resident. Just newly married this summer. Being in the medical field I know there is less than a year left. It breaks my heart to see such a promising young man have to fight for his life. I have been up all night thinking is ways to wrap my head around this. We All have had many years to enjoy this life, and sometimes life is just not fair. His dad is an is a crna, and his mom is a hospice nurse.

Please include Bryan, in your prayers, and to give strength to his parents Rich and Cindy. Many thanks

How very sad this is. I hate cancer with a passion, but even more so when it involves young people who haven't lived their lives yet. Saying prayers for Bryan and his family for strength. One of my best friends is in the last stages of the same disease, he's been in this stage since the summer and they are keeping him comfortable right now. Its all very painful to hear.

Praying for Bryan and family to seek Almighty God above everything in the universe, and to receive His infinite peace in their souls which live on eternally.

He perfectly times the tides and the solar system. He can heal human bodies, minds and souls.

He can do this. Believe it, and ask.

Just wanted to thank everyone for this amazing place and adding Bryan to your prayers. Bryan can now walk without oxygen, tumors have shrunk 75% in his Lungs, liver is now only 4 times the size it should be and starting to function again. Next pet scan will tell us how brain tumors are doing. Off pain meds. Bryan has been on the same treatment as Jimmy Carter that has the same cancer, stage 4 malignant melanoma.

April 1 ( not an April fools joke) Bryan will be returning to his Emergency Department Residency. He is by far not out of the woods but with everyone's thoughts and prayers he may one day be able to become a great doctor.

Great news. The power of prayer and modern medicine. Is the drug on the market or is it a Study Drug?

The drug is on the market and is called Keytruda. I am an oncology nurse and just had two drug reps come and give an inservice on this drug on Thursday! So glad it has been useful in this young person's case. :BigApplause:

I just arrived in TV on Saturday morning for my 3 week down time, when first text came. Bryan had total confusion pet scan showed all tumors shrunk by 75 percent, but the two tumors in his brain now look like a Dalmatian. Text at 2:59am Monday was he was in convulsing. Intubation at 3:06am.
His father and I have been texting for 24 hours straight about when to remove from vent. As I sit reading all of trivial things that goes on in our lives that we all have lived such a full life, I wonder why this amazing 26 year old ER Doctor got the short end of the stick. Sometimes you question your faith.

As I sit on our lanai doing some paperwork that has taken me 10 times longer, than normal, I have questions on why Bryan. Just waiting for the next text. Sadly his heart is strong and this will take awhile. So prayers for family still appreciated.

My heart goes out to you, and to this boy's family. So much of life is NOT fair and you are right, events like these make us rethink our own lives and our place in the universe. May I take each step this day and every day with the intent to make the world a better place and be mindful of each minute I am given here. Hugs to you all. :-(

So sorry to hear about this tragic turn of events when the news previously seemed to be somewhat promising. You are so right, asianthree, about how tragedies such as this really put life into perspective.

God bless you for being such a good friend and support system to to this family. Prayers being said for all involved, especially Bryan.

What a perfect and beautiful friend you are. Questioning our faith is perfectly normal also, If the boss's son could question why can't we. The important thing is while you are down we will pick you up and cover for you with our prayers. The entire family & Bryan are lucky to have a friend like you. We are so sorry for what is going on stay strong

So, so sorry to hear this. It is so hard to understand.

It's a stark reminder we need to turn to Almighty God who made us. The Scriptures are full of the tests of faith God gave them and us, to get our attention to turn to Him and not just to intelligent, gifted mortals who can do incredible therapies thru science and skill and practice......but who still cannot do all things, as God Almighty can.

Bless you all. Praying for his and the family's peace.

this thread breaks my heart...had not seen it until now....will pray that Bryan lives the time he has left with hope and joy and faith, so that no matter what happens he will feel peace. so so sad for a young person with so much potential to suffer so and for his parents...may God bless them all greatly. The book of Wisdom offers great comfort for the death of a young person. will still not give up on the possibility of a miracle, however....prayers offered...
