OF INTEREST TO VILLAGE RESIDENTS - a message from Henry Cole
"Friends: Get this important golf-cart-path issue out to all residents.
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING. IT AFFECTS ALL RESIDENTS OF THE VILLAGES.
As the result of a legal action against the Developer, the Developer has agreed to put about $42,000,000 back into our Amenities Fund. Twelve million dollars will be paid right after the November 4 Landowner Elections and the remainder will be paid over a 13-year period.
The Landowners in Districts 1,2,3,4, and the Lady Lake/Lake County portion of The Villages, will be voting on an Amenity Authority Committee (AAC) made up of five members, one from each District and one from the Lady Lake/Lake County portion of The Villages. From now on, the AAC will have authority over all Recreation Amenity Funds, except those funds that are in Bonds.
We MUST elect representatives who will make sure that the Amenities Funds are spent for OUR betterment. If we fail to put the right people on the AAC, we will have no right to complain about not being represented. The above-mentioned Legal Action has given us a Democracy. LET’S KEEP IT!
One of the most important and first jobs of the AAC board is what will be done about our failing golf-cart paths. It is understood that the Developer does not want us to spend Amenities money on upgrading deteriorating and dangerously narrow cart paths, which have hurt and killed residents.
Cart paths are an integral and important part of our Villages life.
If the AAC board refuses to modernize our cart paths with OUR AMENITIES MONEY, the local CDD boards will eventually be forced to do so and residents will AGAIN pay for this cost. Should this happen, residents north of CR466 will pay TWICE for cart paths.
This issue illustrates the IMPORTANCE OF WHOM WE ELECT TO OUR AAC BOARD. It is a subject all residents should consider prior to this election. It is MOST IMPORTANT that we elect candidates who will represent our residents’ interests and NOT other vested interests. If AAC candidates fail to address or discuss the golf-cart-path-improvement issue, ASK THEM TO DO SO.
We should let candidates know WE WANT ACTION on golf-cart-path upgrades. It is OUR MONEY and we DESERVE adequate and safe golf cart paths, as provided south of CR466.
We need to get this important golf-cart-path issue out to all residents for discussion and comments. Share it with your neighbors, friends, and each other by email or on the Talk of the Villages blog.
Thank you for your time and concern.
