If you have a dog or cat, they should wear a collar, and that collar should be adorned with a tag with that pet's name and YOUR telephone number. Found a sweet girl this morning, trying to cross Belle Meade, in Marion County/Village of Springdale, with a collar but no tag, and she's probably blind. PLEASE get a tag on your pet. If they become lost, well meaning people have no way to get your baby back to you. This is an easy, inexpensive thing to do so if you love your pet, please do this. Thanks.

It would be absolutely fantastic if all pet owners would do this and while they are at it, have them chipped. However, we do suspect that there are some pet owners that are "a few straws short of a bale" that probably think losing their pet will never happen to them or they don't care. I am a :doggie: lover and people that abuse, mistreat, neglect or are just general :censored: toward their pets really irk me.

You can make these tags for a minimal charge at Petco.

On the money. Both of my adult children have serious money tied up in French & English Bulldogs. They refuse to get a license which is a law here. I offered some time back to bring them to be groomed at Petsmart, I swung by the vet and had them all chipped when the grooming was complete so no license but at least they are findable and the dogs mommies know about the chips. That's a total of four dogs who are safe now. Hard headed kids. Didn't get that from me. I rest my case.

Made the tags recently. Peace of mind knowing I can be called if one of mine disappears.

if you don't like tags you can get a collar embroidered with your phone number. I bought one for my son's cat on ebay.

I bought my cat a cell phone. Just a flip phone, no texting. She has no thumbs.

I'm surprised the breeder didn't chip them. Our breeder did, and had the chip reader as well. Mainly so she could be sure that the puppy you picked out is the dog you got. The first year was free.
I've had tags fall off of our dog, and wear out too. I think we're on our fourth set for our 8-year-old dog.
There's also the possibility that the dog was purposely abandoned , as there is a good likelihood in TV that someone would take him in--plenty of affluent, caring people. It's happened many times before. Within the last couple of years there have been three dogs found in Pinellas Plaza (just this week for one of them) with no tags or ID.

Wow... I can't imagine not having them properly identified. Our Goldens have tags with our Florida and Ontario numbers; are microchipped; and have their names embroidered on their collars all in an attempt to keep them safe and stop us from having a breakdown if they got out!

After Katrina, because many lost their home phones, they recommended that you have your cell phone number on your pet's IDs and not your home number. I'm sure TV isn't going to be hit with a Katrina but I'm not taking any chances! My dog and two cats have IDs and are microchipped.
