Legislative panel finds Palin abused her power in firing of public safety commissioner

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A legislative committee investigating Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has found she unlawfully abused her authority in firing the state's public safety commissioner. The investigative report concludes that a family grudge wasn't the sole reason for firing Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan but says it likely was a contributing factor.

The Republican vice presidential nominee has been accused of firing a commissioner to settle a family dispute. Palin supporters have called the investigation politically motivated.
Monegan says he was dismissed as retribution for resisting pressure to fire a state trooper involved in a bitter divorce with the governor's sister. Palin says Monegan was fired as part of a legitimate budget dispute.

Hmmm....different take on CNN....this is their headline...

Gov. Sarah Palin abused her power in a state official's firing but did not violate the law, an Alaska legislative panel finds.

Wonder why the difference and also what this actually means to anything !!

On the difference perhaps you can supply your link Jim so we can straigten this up a bit....you saw.." unlawfully ".....CNN saw "did not violate the law"....just wonder who got it right.

But once you supply your source all will be answered !!

But then explain in your own words why this is important except for those who are followers of Brittany, etc. ?

Thanks

Right on the mark Bucco...seems ol' JJ forgot to include the bottom line in his cut and paste from the AP article. It says:

The nearly 300-page report does not recommend sanctions or a criminal investigation.

Never thought I would cite CNN but here it is just as you said Bucco.

http://edition.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/10/palin.investigation/?iref=mpstoryview

It means wishful thinking to the witch hunters and mischief makers.

If someone is going to cut and paste and quote they should do the ENTIRE QUOTE OR ENTIRE STORY.

You would think that Jungle Jim would have learned from Sen Biden's plagarism problems !!!

The Orlando Sentinel says sanctions are still be considered and will be released in January by a panel which could include a rebuke or $$$$ or both. Neither she nor her husband are as squeaky clean as you would like to believe. She did fire the librarian when asked about the banning books and Wasilla went up in arms and she had to rehire her. They did not make her rehire the police chief whom she also fired (her opponet). She is all about trying to get rid of anyone who opposes her or crosses her. God help us if she ever ruled where she had any population. That small town girl personna would disappear like a flash. You would not have to worry about socialism but a new female cowgirl like our last eight years, not to mention being the laughing stock of the world. At least Saturday Night Live would be good.

If the American people will continue to re elect lechers, thieves, whore mongers, liars, do nothing, say anything, way too long in the tooth candidates for mayor, governor, congress, senate, president......how in the :cus::cus:
can a little abuse by a governor about the right or wrong-ness of a process even register on the political sewage Richter scale????

Abusing your powers, is just plain abusing your powers. If they decide to do anything about it or not, who cares. she is running as a VP. that pretty much stops all actions against her. besides let her stay in the race, gives her more time dream up more stories to tell us about the "THAT ONE".. Terrorist is hard to beat i will give her that.

Gotta tell you.....when Sen Obama is elected (and it appears that will be the case), their will be lots of laughs from the VP office. This obsession with Gov Palin has given Sen Biden a great cover. I like him as a guy..he is funny.

Do you recall the story he told during the debate about going to some restuaruant he named by named, etc ? Well, turns out that restuarant has been closed for 20 years :) He has done this time and time again this campaign but everyone is only talking about Gov Palin and he just marches on.

He will add humor to the government for 4 years !!!!

I am going to add just one more thought.

Those of you who spend time on Gov Palin, researching and digging and salivating over every article, and who are so incensed over NO WRONGDOING....JUSTIFIED FIRING...

Do you folks read about the ACORN voter registration fraud ? I am not implicating Sen Obama on this but dismayed that people would spend so much time trying to find dirt on someone and ignore what is an assualt on this country from within. This fraud is huge and getting bigger every day.

Is nobody upset or outraged at this ?????

do you remember in the first debate, when McCain was complaing about earmarks and all the stuff. Then said something about 3 million for a study on bear dna or something to that effect. Then made the remark i dont know if that was criminal or not, but that it was a waste. Funny thing McCain voted for it. Kinda like a rest. being closed.. And of course McCain will not say anything about it again....
Or on the other hand it would add alot of Humor to hear Palin address the nation, and call everyone Joe six pack again. That is something no one ever gets tired of????????????? The thing is, we all know who does it and how often they do it. kinda like this board, you have the ones that know it all then the ones that think they do. You have the ones that tell what they are thinking and how they feel about this whole election, then the ones that try to quote every Political analyst that have heard that tells the story like they want to hear. Republican or Democrat it will be the same, we all put our Levis on the same..

Gov. Palin is going nowhere fast. In fact, she should take the "Bridge to Nowhere". How prophetic was that? It doesn't matter what she says or how much she's prepped. She's not qualified for this competition. It only took two weeks for this to show through. ;)

I have no idea whether she is prepared or not....I will be honest enough to tell you that straight up....HOWEVER why are we no talking about the other VP candidate who makes gaffes each and every week, but nothing...all we talk about is Gov Palin.

Sen Biden will surely bring comic relief to the administration :)
