As our nation celebrates Columbus Day, I'm thinking of the accomplishments that Italians and Americans of Italian descent have given to our world. Where would music be today without piano and violin (invented by Italians), without the opera and ballet? And, of course, the magnificent paintings and sculptors, the inventions, fashion, science... oh, heck, the list is just too long.
This nation was truly blessed when the first ships sailed from Naples bringing to America people and culture that would help make America great. .... and the food, Oh my goodness, the food!
The song asked "Where have you gone Joe Dimaggio?". Well, you've gone into Baseball's Hall of Fame and there have been few ballplayers since you who have played to your level and lived life the way you did; honorably.
