We were invaded with (CRAZY ANTS) last week; Thousands were all over the house (INSIDE) . They are new to Florida.
We called Jack Powers of Bates exterminating; They were very professional
and took care of the problem within two days at a most reasonable cost'.
We highly recommend them.

About 3 or 4 weeks ago this ant problem was talked about in a thread. Several people mentioned going to Publix and buying Protexall Ant-Kil for about $4 a bottle.

We had this problem, very small ants showing up in our master bath. They were always just outside the shower, so I thought they were coming up through the drain. I sprayed my regular bug killer and the ants kept appearing. I went to Publix and bought Ant-Kil.

It's a tiny bottle. I put just a small amount in two spots near the shower entrance. Within a couple of hours about 30 tiny ants were found dead next to the liquid. A couple of hours later all the ants had evaporated. I haven't put any new amount down and my wife just said there were a few small dead ants next to the liquid. So 3 weeks later it's still working. The liquid is a light blue color so you can see it. However, I wouldn't put it down if you have any pets.

Yep, very common problem.

If you have a pest control service, just call them and the problem will be taken care of in no time. Always good to have a perst control service when living in Florida. I use Massey.

Or go to Walmart and get a wonderful product called Terro. It will take care of the ants quickly, too.

Crazy ants are a different breed than the exterminators are used to. I've seen them at the square, and they are crazy to watch. They are also crazy breeders. Check this link:

A lot of time the ants are moving because of the weather and also looking for food or moisture. terro is a very good boric acid product in liquid form which is placed on a piece of paper or cardboard, just a drop or two and they feed and take it back to the nest. Spraying will kill the immediate ones you see but not the nest. Spraying also causses them to scatter.

Unlike the ants here crazy ants have multiple queens. They also are not nest builders but use existing hollow areas. They are extremely problematic. I discussed their inevitability with my Massey rep, and he seemed to be not up to date on them (no pun intended).
