Anyone seen Joy yet? I want to see it because Robert DeNiro is in it, but not sure that is enough to carry the movie.

I'd give it an eight out of ten.. DeNiro small part, Lawrence good, still waiting for outstanding movie

Agree... top rating of a 7 or 8. Slow moving in many sections of the movie.

Jennifer Lawrence is great in one of her first movies. This is Winter's Bone. It is a bleak movie though. Jennifer Lawrence - Rotten Tomatoes (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/jeniffer_lawrence/) Winter's Bone (2010) - Rotten Tomatoes (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/10012136-winters_bone)

You have the director who directed The Fighter, Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, three great movies. You've got Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence who were in the last two. Robert DeNiro I like a lot, but his roles lately haven't been much except in American Hustle he was a mafia type, the rest he's somebody's father or whatever. I circled Joy a few weeks ago to see. Yes, Jennifer Lawrence was great in Winter's Bone, that's when she was about 17 and looked nothing like she does normally.

Went to see it on Christmas. Was looking so forward to seeing it because of its cast. Like another poster said, it was slow in parts. No laughter or funny scenes.
Left with a feeling of blahhhhhhhhhh. Just my opinion.

Thanks all. I have been unable to go because of uncontrollable coughing fits caused by bronchitis. Maybe not seeing this movie is my silver lining.

It's definitely on my list of movies I want to see.
I'm a big fan of Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and Robert DeNiro!

I'm also a fan of Jennifer Lawrence ever since I saw her in Winter's Bone and Silver Linings and American Hustle confirmed that, and Bradley Cooper ever since Silver Linings Playbook and American Sniper and American Hustle confirmed him. Robert Deniro I use to be a big fan but he really has quit doing the serious movie parts anymore, and now he's become a one trick pony.
I got to see Joy last night. It's two films in one. The first half is very depressing. It's like grief piled on top of grief, it gets so depressing you almost want to stop watching. However, the second half starts once Joy appears on QVC, but even that is not without obstacles. Overall, I liked it, Jennifer Lawrence was great. Virginia Madsen as her mother was great, and I loved her in Sideways, my all-time favorite film. Robert Deniro played his usual loose screw father character, Bradley Cooper was good, and even sounded like Alec Baldwin when he was telling Joy about QVC and the history of Barry Dillard, the owner at the time. I would wait for the DVD or premium TV, there's too many good films out now or coming out to see instead. I like to see next The Big Short and maybe Star Wars in 3D.
