I will be renting for the first time this winter and will be coming to TV from Long Island NY. Has anyone ever used the autotrain?? I want to have my car while I'm there but driving down alone isn't very appealing. Any other suggestions???

In RI we have car transport by truck companies . Snowbirds drop cars off at the designated place, fly to Florida and then pick up the car at the transport lot. Reverse to come home.

Hi Angel,
I am a snowbird and live in the hudson valley region off the NY thruway. Once you get used to driving down, it's not so bad. I drive down with a friend and my cocker spaniel.

I would be interested in that transport company in RI. My sister and brother-in-law go to CT for the summer months - he tows his boat with this truck and she follows in the car. She doesn't want to drive the next time but needs her car in CT. She would ride with him in the truck. Do you have any idea what it costs?

The RI yellow pages lists at least 10 companies under Automobile Transport. For example, one company found in www.Eastcoastautotransport.com will give a price quote on-line. They pick up in RI and other southern NE places including Hamden CT. Hope this helps.
