Downloading music to MP3 format

Can anyone tell me which program to use to download music from the computer to a MP3 player. The player will only accept MP3 files. I don't know how to change my music to MP3 format.

Both of my computers came preloaded with Windows Media Player. I can rip music from a cd and load it onto my computer with this program. I can also load music onto my mp3 player from this program. Check your program list and see if you have this already on your computer.

You can switch music file formats. i.e. wave, mp3, cd audio....
to any fromat you desire using the program "SWITCH"

If you have the music files on your computer, just open your mp3 player
by going to COMPUTER and clicking on the mp3 player. Then just COPY
any desired music file to the MP3 player, by right clicking on the music file and selecting copy to ...(MP3 player.)

I've used "Polderbits" audio recorder program. You can download it here:

It will record ANY audio output from your computer (provided it has a sound board) and you can record input as well, mic. music player, telephone, etc..
It will record in several formats and you can load one format and save as another. I think you'll like it.

I also use windows media player and find it works well. When you open WMP you can add you music files to the player but going to "add to library" and then when have all the files you can drag and drop to the mp3 player and sync and all the files should be there. The 'help' section is very good for instructions.

A word of caution...if you are ripping files from a cd that you own it is very easy but make sure you go to the format section and change to 'mp3' files and don't leave as wma files which is usually the default. If you don't do this then your wma music files will not play on your mp3 player and you have to use a program like 'switch' to then change the file format. It is easy to do just when you are ripping.

It is actually easy once you have done it a couple of times. I am just getting ready to put new music on my wife's mp3 player for our trip to the Villages.

I have just done a step by step of getting music to a mp3 player so if anyone is interested I would be willing to type what I do to get music to my mp3 players.
