Much to our dismay, we keep running into the same problem with Service Smart. We signed up and paid for an expensive improvement in December. Within 48 hours, we had cancelled our improvement and asked the company to promptly refund our credit card. 6 phone calls later, no refund at all. Each time I asked to talk to billing, there has been 'nobody available in the billing department' and was also told the operator would pass our message to the billing department to process our request and credit our account. I also asked to have the billing department call me. Nothing. Last Thursday a manager by the name of Mr Barry, who 'has direct contact with the owner' would return my phone call by 5pm. No phone call received, no credit on account. Don't do business with them.

Go directly to their office in Ocala and demand a refund in person. Do not leave until they give it to you. They will tell you no one is there to help you. Stay anyway. If you go real close to closing time on a Friday and tell them you are not leaving until you get your money it may help. I did this and I got my money back. Service Smart is a bunch of crooks. Time to play hardball...

For the life of me, I never, never, never thought you'd see the light! Welcome to our club.

Contact your credit card company, explain that you cancelled per the legal requirements, but that the company is balking on providing notification of the cancellation. The CC should be able to get your refund immediately.
Hope this helps.

Took my credit card company 5 months to get $$ back from Service Smart. Apparently every time a vendor replies to the credit card people, they are granted another 60 days for a rebuttal. They are crooks and know how to play the system. Stay away!

I never pay upfront. If they want me as a customer they will bill me after the service.

Same issue with Service Smart. I've been waiting for my refund since October 2015. Can't get past the receptionist. They tell me I'm on the list for refund. I just filed a claim with crimes against seniors. Online. You should also. Learned lesson, don't pay until job is done satisfactorily. Good luck.

Learned my lesson. Don't pay up front. Service smart won't be getting anymore money from me.

As long as this crooked company is allowed to fish in the big pond called The Villages, they will continue to hook many more unsuspecting customers. Apparently a bad reputation doesn't detour or effect this company! Isn't it time that someone in authority stop this madness?

I always use American Express... they stand behind the card member not the merchant. They will give you an immediate credit while they investigate. You need
to send a certified letter demanding they cancel services and issue a refund.

Just another example, I've never had Service Smart, but two Service Smart guys just showed up at my house (for the second time in the last 3 months) and started trimming my hedges, etc. I toyed with just letting them do it, but my conscience wouldn't allow it. So I informed them (again) that they were at the wrong house. Amazing.

Good suggestion to file with Seniors vs Crime. Not only do they keep records on Companies who were allegedly questioned but they wil take up your banner and go to bat for you. It is a good idea if someone is going to use a vendor to call Seniors vs Crime and see if they have a file on the Vendor? There are Seniors vs Crime in Brownwood in the Sheriff's annex (Next to Theater), on 466 at the corner of 466 and Morse Blvd and one in Mallory. :mornincoffee:

If people really care about unsuspecting victims, perhaps petitioning the Daily Sun to not run their ads anymore might prove effective. Seniors vs Crime could provide copies of the complaints.
