Maybe I'm too new to understand, but if someone hates "the developer" that much, why live here? And when GG points out all the good "the developer" has done, why bash her? It just seems the yardstick for some of these people is what THEY like, not what has worked for the overwhelming majority of residents.

Did I say those that disagree with certain things "the developer" does are not entitled to voice their opinion?
Did I say that those who agree with what "the developer" does are likewise not entitled to voice their opinion.
What I said was "If they hate "the developer" THAT MUCH (meaning on just about every issue and aspect of life in TV, like some do), then why live here?"
And I know that you are not defending vicious personal attacks against a lovely lady who was just expressing her opinion.

As far as liking everything that has happened on the national political scene goes, I'll be expressing MY opinion in November.

ANY complaint/criticism regarding the developer brings out the "protectors of the crown". One person complains about something, and all of a sudden that person is a chronic complainer, their number of posts are assessed for "standing"; too few and the poster is put in their place. Or, a review of all their previous posts are assessed to indicate a chronic complainer or a hidden agenda. You have now elevated someone who disagrees with the developer as "hating the developer". The go-to response is "if you don't like it, move". Pretty much what you just posted. The koolaid drinkers have become the cyberbullies of TOTV. Still friends.

I didn't see the bashing. I looked for 10 seconds and felt bad I even gave it 10 seconds. Why would I want to see my friend's opinion being bashed?

I think it's OK to say "Some people feel,,,yada,yada,yada and I disagree." But why name names?

I also think it takes courage to speak your mind knowing that you're going to get slammed. That's why so many read and so few speak up. When someone says, it's just not worth it or that's why I don't write any more I think we loose something.

I sure would like to hear from everyone. I might not like what I hear.

I really wasn't referring to any of us with a legitimate complaint or alternative view of how things should be. Nothing that needs to be improved will ever get better without people speaking up. If I thought about it, I could come up with a list of improvements as well. But we both know there are those who literally NEVER have a good word to say about TV, every post is negative, we both know who they are, and therefore my comment about why they would want to live here. As you know, there is constructive criticism and there is just plain whining
As far as "protectors of the crown" go, I don't think the billionaire developers need much protection, per se. But it does tend to balance out the chronic nay-sayers.
I personally do not subscribe to the "if you don't like it , move" philosophy, I prefer "If you don't like it, try to change it" If enough people agree with the change, it may very well happen. You'll also note that most of the negative comments about TV offer no alternative policy, and many of them are either picayune or way out in left field. But they are still entitled to their opinion on this forum. They are NOT entitled to make personal attacks against anyone, even our #1 cheerleader. And yes, still friends!

On Line News?? Haven't seen it, never heard of it, but one thing I can say is Gracie Girl has been on this blog for quite a few years, almost as many as myself. She's a lady that I've never seen post anything that might be referred to as bashing. She's always been a class act.

Agreed! She sent me a very nice message when I first joined. :) I love TOTV, generally, but there will always be those miserable few, here and everywhere. Such is life!

Anyone who knows Gracie personally would never "attack" Gracie at any level. Now, that being said, it doesn't mean you can't disagree with her respectfully, and she would enjoy respectfully discussing any subject with you. Like so many of us, she reached out to my wife and I when we first joined TOTV, and made us feel welcome. Although I am no longer very active on TOTV, my family has become friendly on a personal level with her and her wonderful family, visiting each other's home, and my wife golfing or dining with her weekly. Anyone who would try to disparage her doesn't deserve my attention, or anyone else's. She doesn't need me to defend her, she has enough people in TV that love her, and know what a beautiful lady she is.

Me too. It is Topix -- The Villages-- Talk of the Villages which gets ugly. Kind of the toilet stall wall of the legal Internet. They do make anonymous attacks on people whom you can rather easily figure out are as far as real identities like me and Graciegirl. It is hard to figure out who these people are that are doing the insulting. Not that I care all that much about the few slurs on me. I do believe in free speech and few people seem to even look at Topix-- The Villages-- Talk of the Villages.

The comments made against GG - or any TOTV poster - goes to show only one thing...the limited mental capacity of the posters making such comments.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but not to changing the facts. GG is among an elite group of long-timers here who have been able to provide many more facts than anyone ever will on the other site! And that is something to be appreciated!
