In Western NY today it is dark, windy and cold with a high of 44 failing into the 30's. In the hills there is snow expected for tonight. Oh how I wish I was in Florida!:cold:

Nasty Skies, 50's during the day and frost tonight. After the rain the winds are supposed to start.

Well, not to rub your nose in it, but the weather here in The Villages has been absolutely lovely. High's in the high 70's to low 80's, sunny, lows at night in the high 50's. The golf courses are green and lush. Hang in there, Bestmom!

It is cooler here in Arkansas but not as bad as you Northerner's. It has been mainly in the mid to high 70's with our nights in the 50's. Hopefully we won't get really cold until January. At least the summer heat here as prepared me for Florida weather.

ConeyIsBabe
10-21-2008, 05:23 PM
This is my favorite time of year.... the summer heat is gone and the bleak, cold rainy season has not arrived yet. The fall colors are glorious at its peak!

Today is a blue-sky sunny day around 70 degrees with no wind. Overnight the temp drops to the low 40s. These nice days are numbered :faint:

It was a lovely day in Manhatttan earlier today. Right now, getting windy and it is starting to look nasty. The temp. here on Staten Island is about 50 degrees.

My husband is arriving in TV on Halloween and I will follow soon after:a040:

It is pretty near perfect, but the leaves are strange this year, damaged due to the high wind, the unusual wind from Ike. Who would dream a hurricane could reach Cincinnati? The leaves aren't bright colored, just brownish and beaten up looking. It is 70 during the day and mid 40's at night.

I want to apologize. It seems like I am posting every five minutes. As soon as we get to TV, I will not be beating my gums on here. I just am thinking about TV and this is my only out until we get there Friday. Woooo hooo. You won't be hearing from me much once we get there. Some of you will appreciate it more than others.

SF Bay Area has many climates. In the East Bay it was a high of around 70, foggy and in mid 50's during the 6:30 AM drive to work in the dark.

Holloween decorations are in the yard and the front door entryway.

Dawali lights on many of the houses.

High school soccer season starts in two weeks. Our 24 yo son will drive in 100 miles from Sacramento State to play in the annual alumni game on the 14th.

You guys in TV are killing me - stop bragging about the weather, NOW!!!
Just kidding. In Joisey, it's been raining, 45ish, then lots of wet snow yesterday, many trees down from the weight of all the moisture. Today, grey and dreary, then drizzling, then blue sky with white puffy clouds. Tonight, on way home from work at midlnight, stars are beautiful. Who knows about tomorrow.

Graciegirl: I'll be in Cleveland this weekend. Never been there before but I am looking forward to the long drive across PA and into OH. The trees should be gorgeous. About getting on TOTV when you are in TV: I tend to not get on, mostly b/c my puter was not set up. But I think I will once I get down for good. Love all the information available on this site. That is most important to me. I figure I won't be doing alot of small talk; won't have time. But that may not be true. Either way, I sure hope TOTV is still around when I finally get there fulltime. It is awful here in England at the moment. Very cold & damp, just like our summer really! 40 miles north of us they have snow!! Hate the stuff. Lucky we do not get that stuff where we live. Too close to the sea, and on the Gulf Stream, so it does keep us a little warmer.
All the leaves are now changing colour and do look lovely.

Thursday evening ... the weather in downstate NY this evening is just fine, thank you. The chilly weather seems to have departed and the 7-day forecast is for upper 50's to low 60's. In fact, the overnight temp is supposed to higher than the high temperature during the day yesterday and today. And I noticed that the temperatures are very nice in the North-Central states, too.

But, for those of us who are not in Central Florida ... what's the forecast for you folks, please.

What a great afternoon/evening the weather was for the kiddies to go trick or treating. It was so much fun to see the costumes and not coats hiding them. While out walking my Murphy I was fortunate enough to go near the elementary school and watch the costume parade in the school yard while all the proud parents looked on. Really great and really cute.

I lived in the city of Napa for one year and never rode on the Wine Train - it always seemed like a waste, since I could drive the same route and eat at any of the many gourmet Napa Valley restaurants :icon_hungry:

Besides, we'll have Jack along and that would be awkward. AND....... the challenge will be to find a nice hotel that will accept Jack. I already called the Embassy Suites in Napa and they say.... "no dogs" :cus:

Well, after spending about a month at our Florida home, we are now back in western NY. I'm freezing!
Fireplace is going, it was 27 degrees this morning and heavy frost.

Last week our friends totaled their car in the ice/snow. In a few weeks we'll cut down the Christmas tree....(12' Doug Fir, not our biggest, but nice), drag it through the snow to decorate while the fireplace warms us up.

We'll be back to Florida for May...can't wait!!
BTW, gas here is $3.07 a gallon.....gotta love NY....low temps and high taxes and gas.....oh well, before long Florida will be our full time home, never to see NY again......

Count your blessings Floridians!!

No, they do not. There is a local Central Florida Retirement forum that has sub forums for different central Florida communities, including The Villages and The Plantation, etc. I would post a link to that, but I assume that it would be against the TOTV rules, and I wish to be compliant to those rules.

I have been welcomed here by many others here on this forum, and I assume that the welcome has not expired. It is my understanding that this forum is visited by many who are not T.V. residents....many wannabees, etc.

When I am at our Plantation home, we do a good amount of business in The Villages at the shops and restaurants, etc. I have helped many with interest in TV to actually buy in your community.

If I am mistaken, and have overstepped my welcome, or if the rules here have recently changed and non residents are no longer welcome, please let me know.

Peachie,
Thank you. I had both the Crisper's lunch and the Mac user's club on the calendar, but got so busy I did not make it. In the 25 days we were back, We had a new roof installed, blew in more insulation, planted 3 more citrus trees, replaced the lampost, and installed a sign I bought up at TV, powerwashed and cleaned the whole house, dug up and moved my sprinkler valves, did some electrical work, installed a attic ladder and shutters and a new address light for a neighbor, fixed and installed some window treatments:yuck: did tons of trimming, planting, etc.....did much more, but that was the bigger stuff.

Tony, Your heater is for your shop/home down in Florida? Interesting. I did not know one there would be needed....but I suppose you do get some colder days....a toasty shop IS nice.

Actually, I just got HOA approval to add a 12 by 20 garage addition for a shop for the Florida home. My house up north here has a 2500 sq ft basement and a 28x40 garage...I will need more storage room for tools, etc down here when we make the move. I may start that addition in May when we return.

My apologies for hijacking a thread that is about the weather.....I was just answering questions......this week up North here it is supposed to get warmer with highs hitting 60.....that is warm for us....

In the past when the G family would vacation together in a warm spot we would throw in a sweatshirt to wear just in case it got cold. It seems that we were always wearing the "just in case" sweatshirt. It now has become a joke. Now here we are and we are NOT warm. NOPE. I think it is gonna snow.

I do feel your pain. Be thankful it is just a visit for you......it is our home still for another 954 days.....

I now believe God never intended anyone to live where you could see your breath......the birds fly south for the winter......they are smarter then we are.....

Sittin here freezing, Frank D.

Tony,
Where do you live with 21 inches? Is it melting?

Bless all Northerns who can't get to a warmer climate.!

Very true, very true.......driveways full of snow and ice, cars are all gray with salt slowing turning them to rust, no way to wash them in this cold...(24 degrees now, will be 17 tonight) The fireplace is looking good and feeling great.

I can endure it better knowing that the end is in sight.....

I do not know what the temperature is out there. I just know that I don't like it. There ain't no sunshine. I hate it when there ain't no sunshine. Gray days make me grouchy. Gray days make me want to say bad words and use bad grammar.

I just put on layers of clothes. I am going to the store right now. I am buying large hunks of red meat and lots of potatoes or maybe I will make some corn pudding (my people call it carbs) and then I will sit around tonight, wearing flannel, and drinking wine, and trying not to type stuff on TOTV. I just joined a wine club. They sent me a whole case. Fed Ex brought it yesterday. I pretend that I will share it with company. HAH! It better warm up here fast.

You know, I met TOTV last November when the weather got this way here in Ohio. I never thought I would stay this long. I pretended I was going to move my computer out of my kitchen. And now, AND NOW, I have written a whole bunch of posts and I cannot seem to stop and now winter has returned......

From Orlando - we have had our heat on for 3 days - (I have it on in the car too.) I have lived here 25 years and this 50/60 degree business is way too cold for me. I like the 80's.

Poor nonie?
Poor Tony has 21 inches of snow on the ground!

Enquiring minds want to know where Poor Tony lives. Nanook? My friends e-mail me pictures of Ontario and they have about a foot of now right now.

It is encouraging to hear from experienced residents that this cool weather in Florida isn't the norm.

10 degrees out with a wind chill of 0, about 3" of snow on the ground and it is not even December 1. Location is Uniontown Ohio just south of Akron. The further north you go the deeper the snow gets. East of Cleveland in the snow belt off Lake Erie they have anywhere from a foot to two.
