When I moved to Miami in 1953 as a kid, all the new homes used plugs for the lawn and only the very most expensive homes were fully sodded. You may be able to buy St. Augustine sod and cut it into plugs.

Cutting St Augustine is really really hard. You may have to saw it! You usually can get plugs on Thursdays at Home Depot or Lowes. I've gotten many there over the years. Call them first to see if they have them. This might not be the season.

The best way I found was to lay the sod on a piece of plywood and cut it with a hatchet.

Get a long handled bulb planter, the type that you, like a shovel, step on it to drive it into the ground. You use this tool not only to cut the plugs but to plant them as well.
Good will off 466 had several new ones in the back section.
