Thunder woke me, and I got online to see where the storm was heading. I see that Sumter county is under a tornado watch, but our radio is silent. It appears to be working, but now that I think about it, I can't remember the last time it alarmed. I'm wondering if we should replace it. Did your alarm go off?

Mine went off at 2 different times. I have Lake, Sumter, and Marion Counties activated(selected)

If your weather radio did not go off is it possible your battery backup has gone dead over time and during a brief power outage with no battery backup, the programming of the weather radio was wiped clean? Resulting in the need for new batteries and reprogramming.

Weather radio went off twice, loud enough to wake the dead!! Phone went off several times due to multiple APPs providing weather alerts.

Our Weather Radio went off once around 1:30 AM with a Tornado Watch, not a Warning.
Our Radio was programmed by the local Firehall for Sumter County (because that is where we live).
It's a free service provided by your local Firefighters.

What weather apps are you using on your iPhone to get weather alerts?

Yes, my weather radio alarmed twice. First was around 1am for tornado watch and again at around 3 am for severe thunderstorm warning.

I have mine set for Sumter County only. I suggest you get a fresh battery in it and have the radio re-programmed at one of the fire stations. It take them about 2 minutes.

The radio has to be next to a window with the antenna fully extended, too, for it to properly get the NOAA signal. Testing is done every Wednesday and the radio will flash a yellow signal when it receives the test signal.

For a phone app, search for WKMG and downloaded News 6 Pinpoint Weather. When you open it they will ask to be allowed to have your location and to send notices.

WFTV 9 is the weather app that alerted us over the weekend.

Thank you all. I did check the connections and found that the plug was very loose and was not actually making contact. Batteries only last so long, so replaced both and it is working now. It makes sense to maintain that thing every so often and I had neglected to do that. Lesson learned.

I hope some newbees will pay attention, though, and realize the value of these great little weather radios. I get a notification by email also, and on my cell, but this radio can be heard throughout the house and is impossible to ignore. We bought ours at Ace Hardware and got it programmed at the nearest fire station.
