My husband thinks I'm crazy but last night I heard scratching behind the nightstand and then woke up a little later and it had moved behind a bombay chest in our bedroom. There are no signs of mice inside the house.

Has anyone else had this and can you tell me what it was? It sounds like a mouse rustling around or a squirrel but I haven't seen alot of squirrels in The Villages.

If you have had it could you please tell me what it was and how you found out what it was and then also what you did about it (if in fact it is a mouse or other small animal?). Help?

Can be a palm rat or a flying squirrel-we thought it was a squirrel-ended up being a palm rat-got in by breaking the mesh under one of our dome vents

Hired pro--my days of walking in attics with blown in insulation are over

It was very windy yesterday, do you have a palm tree just outside the house at that location? Their palm fronds can make a lot of noise scratching against the house when the wind is blowing.

Likely mice inside the walls. They come in when the weather gets cold. You will need an exterminator

Remember when you are cold, they are cold. Let them in for a little warmth. I'm sure they will leave before too long.

That's the humane way to do it.

Ours will do that on high wind days to remind me it's time to cut a frond or two.

We did that once... didn't want to use kill traps so we used the catch and release traps. But then they just came back in after months of this we called the professionals. As we lived on the edge of Red Mountain the mice problem was the gift that just kept on giving.

Call in the professionals.....

Rodents of any kind will eat up your wires--get rid of them ASAP--before it becomes major $$$$

Could it be your sprinklers hitting against the outside wall?

I'm getting sick

Hopefully not Yersinia pestis (bubonic plague), from the fleas on the rats.

Mice or big fat rat starting to chew on everything. Time for bait in the attic space. Make sure no holes have been chewed in any eave spots for air flow.

Thanks everyone - I do appreciate it.

Guess it's time to call the exterminators.

Thanks again
