Greetings All,
My wife and I are moving to the Village of St. James in mid March. We are excited to make new friends and start living the Villages active lifestyle. This forum has been such a help to us over the past 8 months.

I guess I get to be the first to welcome you. I hope you got some good information from this forum, had a few laughs and ignored the trolls. I bought 2 years ago, was in and out, and moved here permanently 3 months ago. It is even better than I had expected, and my wife and I haven't even explored 10% of what is available. May your dream come true as well.

As the 2nd to welcome you, there is no other place like it. I'm going on my 8th month here, my wife her 10th, and did I mention - THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE IT!! In-freaking-credible!! Welcome!!

Congrats! And welcome! We also live in St. James and you made a great choice. A lot of social activities offered by the St. James Club and a good central location with easy access to Buena Vista.

Welcome to TV. Once you arrive, TAKE YOUR TIME before doing anything. As you mentioned, there is a lot of good info on this site. IGNORE ALL welcome wagon people, and anyone selling water treatment equipment. IGNORE all people selling palms or any other landscaping out the back of a truck.
Make friends with your neighbors, and ask questions, they will provide a wealth of info.

Wise advice by Villagetinker. Take your time and the best decision you have ever made together will reveal itself. Welcome home!

Welcome. You will love it here. Also ignore anyone wanting to trim your palm tree. Those riding around knocking on doors don't always do the best job.

:welcome: Don't try to accomplish everything the first month. Relax, have fun, and take time to smell the roses.

I agree wholeheartedly about waiting. Figure out your lifestyle first. It isn't a contest to see how many tradespeople you can hire tbe first month. BTW, that bar has been set very high. New neighbors up the street added a pool, a room, bricked their driveway, landscaped with at least 20 Palm trees, and replaced all flooring. It was a brand new home! Yep. Bar has been set very high!

Welcome. As I tell everyone who asks, I can't imaging living somewhere else after retirement.

11 years in June. I could not wait to leave Palm Harbor, FL for the Villages. Get to know your neighbors and research workers and such you might want to hire. Communicate on TOTV and the various Facebook Villages oriented site as well.

We really lucky out with great neighbors over the past 10.5 years.

We have lived in St. James since October 2015. Loving it. Great people. We are not even experienced enough to know our way around and look forward to spending the rest of our lives discovering all the things to do here. We are way more active now than before we moved.

You know when you watch the Muppet TV show, and everyone is having a good time except for a couple of old coots in the back that never have anything good to say?

Well, welcome to the Muppet show.
