Macy's started out as a little dry good store 150 years ago today.
One of my fondest memories of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade was when I was able to arrange for a lady I knew and her two children and my own daughter to be in the parade as clowns. My co-worker's wife was an Exec with Macy's and was kind enough to get them an invitation to participate. They had to arrive at 4:30am in order to be outfitted in clown suits and have their makeup applied. During the parade they would circulate from side to side greeting the observers on the sidewalks along the route of the parade. Lucky me ... I had to work that day.
They speak of it with excitement even today and that was about 25 years ago.
