We have several...different look but same concept. Some of the Giant stores in Pa had scanners that you picked up when you arrived and as you shopped you scanned the product yourself and put it in the appropriate bag. Checkout was pointing the scanner at a screen which read your list, you swiped your card and a receipt was printed. I talked to the store manager and he said loss was minimal and those that used it got through the store and checked out an average of 25% shorter time. I often looked at the long lines waiting to check out and wondered why? I wish that system was here.

Some day perhaps. We use the plastic bags as garbage bags. These easily take the place of the white garbage bags most use. So while we aren't saving the environment using the reusable grocery bags we are helping by not buying the small plastic garbage bags.

We find good uses for plastic bags. Reusable bags for groceries require washing because they are subject to e-coli contamination

They have them on Amazon. But, the reviews aren't great.

I get the plastic bags and put one on a pot with a lid. I clean as I cook like Rachel does.

and tie up the little bag when it gets full and that goes into a garbage bag in the garage.

Bagging your own at Aldi's saves a bit of time when you get home because it's all sorted. I use the bags with the handles WinnDixie gave away when they opened. If I'm buying a lot I'll throw a laundry basket in the car.

We use the canvas or cloth reusable bags, keep them in the truck of the car. Only think we have to remember to take them into the store. IMO the work great, nice big handles, good for heavy loads, and last long time.

If you check Amazon or Google you can get them made in US for less.

Very handy when shopping at Aldi's. Bought through Amazon. Delivered to my home in three days.
