I found this interesting rock in my yard while gardening. It looks to me that it might be an axe head as there appear to be tool marks on one side and an indent where twine might have been wound to attach the head to a spear. I cannot drive a car so traveling to a museum is not an option. I'm hoping we have an expert among us willing to take a look at it.

I also found a fossil sea urchin a few feet away from this piece.

I'm not that familiar with Florida's past but I believe the Seminole once were here.

You can contact local museum and send a pic to them. My son IDs bones all the time

Yeah, to my knowledge, they used to live all through here. They were one of the five "civilized tribes" that were sent to the Oklahoma territory in the early 1800's. Of course, some refused to go and retreated into the hinterlands of Florida. I believe they never surrendered to the U.S. forces and their descendents are all around us. Here is a song about them:

Thanks!!! Collections | National Museum of the American Indian (http://www.nmai.si.edu/explore/collections/) I visited this museum in May 2015 but unfortunately they had their spear heads, arrow head, tomahawk heads and the like all put away somewhere. So, I did not get to see them.

Looks like limestone which is way too soft to be used for tools. You could probably tap the side with a hammer and it would break in half.

Frustrating I can only load one photo at a time

It does seem a little too crude for an Indian spear head. But it could be unless limestone then it is probably one of those weird co-incidences where something looks like something it is not. I do hope the museum finds otherwise though.

Well it was fun for a while
I love this site, so many fun and interesting people to solve our issues . I won't tell my grand kids that my relic is probably only their grand father

As our son says only the expert knows for sure, and he is polite when he gets a bone from not a human, but a moose. As he said it's still funny to think that if it was human remains they would have been over 10 feet tall.
