The Carpenters
On Friday February 12, I attended a Karen Carpenter Tribute at Orange Blossom Opry in Weirsdale. Not expecting anything more than a night out, I was prepared for a performance less than spectacular. We are talking about Karen Carpenter, one of the greatest voices in music history. How can anyone duplicate THE VOICE?
How wrong I was. This woman nail it. I mean NAILED IT. A great performance I will remember for a long time.
Before the show, a six-piece house band plays a half hour of country western music. Being from NY, country is not my favorite genre, but just like the Karen Carpenter tribute, the band was exceptional. The best $24 I ever spent.
The Orange Blossom Opry is only a twenty minute drive from central The Villages and worth the trip. Good prices, and great entertainment.
On February 21, Hotel California (A Eagle tribute band) is giving an extra performance after previous shows being sold out. From what I hear, Hotel California is the read deal also. For those Eagle fans out there, I recommend checking out ticket availability and see the show at 352-821-1201
PS: I have no affiliation with the Orange Blossom Opry. I just love music and quality entertainment at very reasonable prices. Having been in TV for six years, I never heard of this place, until recently. Check it out. Tommy recommends it highly.
