I need a new cell phone & don't want to sign on to another extended contract with Sprint unless I am sure that TV gets good service with them. What cell phone companies are in the area? MBH and I would both need phones, so I would be interested in a family rate. Also, I would want a plan that doesn't have a lot of dead zones when traveling.

Does anyone have T-Mobile? I need a new phone and have been with them for years. How is their service in TV?

I have Verizon in New Jersey. Am I going to have connection problems in the Villages or can I just stay with them as I just signed a two year contract with them? I also find Verizon convenient as all my calls are mostly to Verizon customers and therefore the airtime does not count against your total.

We had Verizon prior to moving to TV five years ago and have yet to have a call dropped or failed to obtain a signal. We are well pleased with the service as well as their Customer Service and highly recommend them.

We also have Verizon. When we visited last winter we broke our plastic belt holder for the phone. The local Verizon dealer was very accommodating. No dropped calls. The service is great.

I still have my Jersey area code here and will keep it. When my wife added a phone she took the local area code

[I] am in Caroline and I had to replace a NEXTELL phone earlier this year. Well Nextell/Sprint convinced me to try a new Sprint Hybird phone and as far as I was concerned it was a piece of junk and the reception through Sprint was terrible. I returned the sprinit phone within 30 days and now use a NEXTELL and have perfectly clear reception. Just look at all the contractors who work the area and they all use NEXTELL!

Nextell is owned by Sprint, but Nextell operates under an entirely different system. I suggest you check the covered service area at the Sprint web site for both Nextel and Sprint phones. I had no luck with Sprint Coverage!

I have consumer cellular through AARP - no contracts and have never had any reception problems in Florida (where I live) or Ga., Illinois or Vegas where I frequent. $60 a month for 800 shared minutes with my husband. No roaming charges - straight $60 a month.

We've had Verizon for years and up here in NY all is good, but down there my verizon reception was only one bar and not good. Yes, I did upgrade the software AND the towers.
I went to the Verizon store there in TV, and they told me they could not do ANYTHING.......but said they would send me a new phone. They had to send it to my NY home....:ohdear:

They actually told me that "My phone was just used to NY". I explained to them that since it was just a piece of electronic equipment, and had no soul or personality, it could NOT "be used" to NY. TRUE STORY.

I also asked them why then did my phone have all bars in Orlando, Tampa, and Ft. Myers, but bad reception in the TV-Leesburg area??

I recently upgraded to a new phone, another LG, and I'm hoping that when I return down there in May I will have better reception with the new phone.
