Question for those who have recently done Lifestyle Preview visit.... were you allowed or encouraged to play on the Executive Golf Courses?
I have heard conflicting answers to this question.
Yes, a few exec tee times are reserved for lifestyle guests. (but exec courses are supported by amenity fees and lifestyle guests don't directly or indirectly pay amenity fees??).
No, only championship golf (owned and controlled by the developer) was offered.
Just curious.... this is another fuzzy area between developer control, amenities, and resident/owner priorities.
We played Turtle Mound while we were there in early October on our Lifestyle Preview in addition to Mallory and Cane Garden. The reservation was made by our brother but our credentials were not questioned at the course. The Golf Passport that you'll get in your Preview package says "For additional Tee Times or to reach your Villages Marketing Representative please call 753-2270".
I guess the long and the short of it is that yes, you can get additional tee times at the executive courses through either someone who lives there or one of the sales reps.

Thanks RW.... I figured you could play as a guest of an existing resident.
What I was trying to determine was whether the exec courses were holding back tee time slots for lifestyle guests. One of the starters yesterday implied that such blocks were reserved...and this was contrary to what I had understood.

we did our last Lifestyle visit the end of September....we were allowed two rounds at our choice of executive or championship courses (we chose Mallory and Havana)....we asked if we could, on a fee basis, play an executive course in addition to our Lifestyle "freebies", and we were told NO....we could however, subject to availability and payment of non-resident fee, play another round on a championship course.

No executive courses were offered, during our lifestyle visit. They offered Nancy Lopez or Arnold Palmer. I also took a golf lesson at AP. We played the Nancy Lopez and was impressed with the condition of the course and the challenge of some of the holes. Now that we have purchased, we play mostly the Executive courses because one of the decision points was free golf for life!!! Besides, 9 holes is about all I can do.

Last year I was told "I'd have to look into that but maybe" when I asked if I could play 1 champ and 1 exec. In the end I told her not to bother since I booked two champs. So I guess I haven't answered your question:laugh: But I'd guess that they can break the rules so maybe they do reserve 1 or 2 times just in case and then roll them back into the system if not used.
Last year (as well). No exec courses were offered. We played Havana and Palmer and played additional rounds at other champ courses for the lowest resident fee as Lifestyle guests. I've played nearly all the championship courses in TV with the exception of Mallory and Orange Blossom Hills and I don't think any of them run on identical policies. My experience is that they go by whatever the person working "thinks" the policy is. Mostly nice people just trying to make the system work as they see it.

I did the life style last April and wanted to pay one executive to get a feel for the free golf....I was told those were for residents only. So I played the Lopez and the Palmer. Didn't play an executive until July when I closed on the house.
We did the lifestyle in June and I requested to play one executive and one championship and was able to do so. My son was also with us and he did have to pay $6.50 on the executive because he was not 55, but did not have to pay anything on the championship? Go figure.

When we made our reservation for the Lifestyle Preview (we were there in July 2008), I was asked whether we wanted to play two championship courses, two exec courses or one of each. We were not offered more than the two courses in total, and I never asked to play more, as two were plenty for us during our five days in TV. Like you, we wanted to get a feel for both championship and executive courses, so we made arrangements to play Palmer and Turtle Mound. After playing Turtle Mound I wished that we had played two championship courses, as TM was pretty easy (not that I played it well). We did love the Palmer course though.
