Has anyone been to the new Aldi Store near WalMart on 441? We've been there twice and have been very impressed with their prices and food quality. To keep prices down they have fewer products, and smaller staffs (5/store)

To get your cart insert a quarter--you will get this back when you return cart. For those who have shopped in Europe, it is similar. Cashiers sit--not stand. Store is small, and they won't have everything you want. They sell only their own brands--which we have been pleased with. Only take cash. They do not have bags. Buy them there or bring your own. The cashier loads items into grocery cart. We then take to car and bag them. Line goes by very quickly.

This store will not be for everyone, but those who want or need to save some money, it is great.

They just opened an Aldi here in Seneca, SC. I have been there twice so far and agree that its quite good. Their own brand is as good as major brands in many cases and the prices are really great when compared with the big supermarkets. The system works well and the store provides a place to get many of the basics more reasonably. You can then go to a regular supermarket and get the remainder of the stuff you need. In the end you save money.

We used to shop Aldi's years ago here in Michigan.

The problems I ran into with a couple of their products were: canned fruit was not always ripe enough and I don't like hard, crunchy, stringy canned pears especially or canned veggies of lower quality with blemishes and black spots. We didn't find these problems every time but once was enough for me.

However, some items were just fine like canned tomato sauce and sliced mushrooms.

:agree:Aldi's is not for everyone.

The only thing we like about Aldi's is that there is a corporate relationship with Trader Joe's. Their distribution center is in Lakeland and there is some industry talk that Trader Joe's may open 4 locations in Florida and share that distribution center.

Go to their web site. There is a form that lets you suggest a new location or click the link below. Submit TV. If enough of us do it, maybe they will come....

REQUEST A STORE HERE http://www.traderjoes.com/location_requests_form.aspx

Aldi is a real good store with real good prices but they dont carry everything and you have to shop carefully, but its worth it.

Aldi's dark chocolate candy bar (made in Austria or Germany) is wonderful and only $1.39. It's huge.

Does trader Joe's still carry two buck chuck? I think that's what the wine was called.

Yes they were the company that started calling it two buck chuck out on the west coast. I think the cost may be higher on the right coast, say three buck or so.

Problem is that there are no Trader Joe's in Florida according to their web site.

Trader Joe's is the only thing missing in TV! Now I would have even more to look forward to when I move there!:a040:

Aldi's has become a once a month stop for canned goods, vegetables, fruit, cake mixes, syrup, peanut butter, jelly, eggs, etc. Amazing prices on many things.

Always been happy with it all.

Bottled water $2.89 (24 bottles), good tasting fresh fruit this summer, good tomatoes this summer. Bananas $0.39/lb. Skim milk cheaper than elsewhere. May not be great for all products but if you shop the flyer and know what you're going in for it's great.

I contacted Trader Joe's corporate headquarters about 3 months ago and they made it very clear there are NO plans to open one of their locations in our area. Other than Villagers the clientèle just isn't here.
