Anyone out there have experience with pet sitting a mastiff? I want someone to come to my home and stay with my big baby and take care of him while we go on vacation. References required. PM me if interested. :doggie:

I'm also interested in hearing a response to this. We have two senior and docile Great Danes that we would like to be taken care of in a resident's Village home, for two weeks this April.

We are part of a network of retirees who do in-home pet/house sitting for free. The premise is pet/house sitters get free accommodations in exchange for caring for the home and pet. We cared for two large dogs for two months this past summer in The Villages and are returning again next summer to care for the same two dogs. While we aren’t available during that time period to help you out (wish we were), you would likely find many individuals, including qualified retirees (many from around the world) who would take loving care of your dog for free while you are away. We have a website that explains how this service works that I have sent to you in the PM since we are not allowed to post the website here.

You would have more success asking the pet sitter to stay in your home with your senior Great Danes while you vacation. That's what most dog sitters would prefer -- and I do that with many large and giant babies in the southern portion of The Villages. It is best to leave dogs (especially seniors) in their familiar surroundings and in the comfort of their home.
Let us know your results please...

You really ought to consider giving short sitters a try. Your dog will thank-you.
