Does anyone know if the tunnel under Buena Vista near Savannah is closed this morning as scheduled (according to last week's Daily Sun)? If so I need to allow some extra time to get where I'm going today?

The tunnel near Savannah under Camino has reopened, so I imagine the detour is to go further north to the tunnel to Harmeswood and go behind the Summerchase Cottages to get to the tunnel under Camino...unless anyone has any other suggestions!

Thanks!

Yes it is closed. I passed it this morning. You have to go through the Harmeswood tunnel to get to the other side of Buena Vista..

For those of you who use the detour tunnel be super cautious! I went through it twice today. A total of four golf cart drivers came down to the tunnel the wrong way! There is a Do Not Enter sign but obviously they didn't see it. There is a collision in the making! Anyone coming out of the tunnel is going to collide with a wrong-way driver.

I reported this to Community Watch, who said there wasn't a lot they could do about it. It has occurred to me, if I remember correctly, this tunnel is under the bailiwick of Sumter County, so guess tomorrow I will call the Sumter County DOT (or whatever it is called). Couldn't tell if Community Watch was going to do so.

Definitely an accident waiting to happen. This is a very narrow path and it was like the Daytona 500 today! I live in Alhambra, the village right by that path and travel that way at least 3 times daily. We do not have a stop sign coming out of our village. People turning left onto the path do not yield to the right turners or people going through to El Camino and people coming out of the path do not stop at the stop sign. I know this is a bit of an inconvenience having to go around, but please slow down and pay attention to the signs! Rant over!!!!:rant-rave:
