If anyone wants some fun...:pepper2: Try JNB Horse Haven Farm. (Located close to the Villages) This is a horse recuse...gentlest horses in the world. When I am in the Villages I ride there all the time and have taken all my friends.( and many had never ridden before...they have a blast!:pepper2:) You ride in the Ocala National Forest.
Grandchildren love it too, especially to ride with Grandma! (Yes they have steps you walk up to get on the horse!)So if you have any questions...pm me.
The horses shelter needs our support just like all rescue pets. It is a tough time for all pet recues.

Thanks for posting this information. Could you also please post a telephone number and address for JNB Horse Haven?

It seems like a great opportunity to have some fun and support a very worthy cause at the same time.

Horses are wonderful , especially with a good barbecue sause ....However I don't recommend them if you have an allergy to GLUE .......

Horses are the reason I didn't grow up to be a cowboy !!!!! I even thought of being a cowboy on a bicycle but it seemed kind of silly somehow and if your afraid of being silly , then don't get on a horse.........

sorry Donna ------ fumar :0000000000luvmyhors

GG, it is supposedly safe for grand children, sure we can't tempt you?

Believe me, none of us fit into our old jeans or chaps. But big horses can handle big bottoms.

Ok girls! (or any man who wants to join us) When we can all find an open day with decent weather...I can drive 6 of us to this farm. It will be a hoot! :pepper2:
Everybody is scared at first...but it is neat to have something live between your legs! Plus when in a group, you laugh and talk. It is so much fun. :1rotfl:
We will invite everybody. Even if you don't ride, you (Beady) can enjoy the farm and have the drinks and ben-gay ready for us who do!
After the holidays we will work on finding a date. And once again...everyone is invited.:welcome:

A Horse Rescue Farm sounds like a wonderful place to support! As Cglenhar said: "A good time for a good cause".

Yes, while some of this post seems to be a little off topic (and color in my opinion, but I guess we are all adults), the horse place is wonderful. My grands had a wonderful time when I brought them there. Thank you for sharing this information.

Ok...I'm up to having something "live" between my legs...as long as it doesn't buck me off and have me slide down it's backside into a ditch during the "fun"....actually happened to me when I was 16 years old!

I'll be with Beady watching from the sidelines.

Just to let anyone who is interested know, that riding at the JNB Horsefarm was really great.

The horses are well trained and well cared for, most of them being very gentle and predictable. For someone who is not a confident rider I was very impressed with staffs expertise to match the right horse with the rider. Overall, it was a wonderful experience riding thru the beautiful Ocala Forest.

Wow! Nonie I'm impressed. I read your post and the operative word for me is "most" are gentle. Hahahah! I love horses and love to pet them, but am very afraid to ride. Perhaps I can just donate to this great place and go out and pet them! You all look wonderful!

Nonie, I'd like to volunteer to help out at the horse rescue farm. I admire their mission and I love horses. I've worked before with challenged kids who gain confidence by riding horses. Do you know if they accept volunteers?

I'm hoping take a drive out there, hopefully this week. I think they're open to the public only in the mornings?

Bare,

I did ask them about Volunteers and they said yes they would be happy to have them.

They are open everyday 7 days a week until 1:00 o'clock.
I think it would be a wonderful place to volunteer as the horses are very sweet and gentle and the people involved there are very nice. In fact I cant say one negative thing about it!

I was told that The Horsin Around club of The Villages goes to ride at the Horse Farm about twice a month.

Nonie, thanks for highlighting the information on the horse farm and posting pictures. I hope that lots of members are encouraged to go there and ride the gentle horses.

I'm assuming the more riders they get at the horse farm, the more horses they'll be able to rescue. A very good cause.

My equestrian daughter will be visiting for two months this summer. Is there a place that has English riding horses, lessoning at reasonable prices, perhaps working/exercising in exchange for lessoning? I think she would like to work at the rescue as well. She has worked in barns and just loves to be around the horses. Any suggestions? Comments?

This site might be of help--
Horseback Riding in Ocala Florida (http://www.equinenow.com/riding/ocala-florida.htm)

Looks like you would have to create an account on Equinenow to get the addresses and phone numbers for these horse farms. You see a lot of these large horse farms while driving on the back roads from the Villages to Ocala. The Equinenow site looks like it is free to register and create an account.

Good luck.

The rescue that started this thread is no longer. (Bankruptcy)

Every kind of breed and riding is in Ocala and the best of the best.

Wetpaint has HorseNAround club web page which is a Village club. Some who have their own horses ride English.

Cactus Jacks at Florida Horse Park has trail rides. Deb 352 266 9326

Camp Wildwood Equestrian Center run by the Girl Scouts has trail rides. Beth 352-459-7150 or Kathy 813 417 9583. 25 dollars for 1and1half hour ride. Can't beat that.
2244 EC 462 Wildwood

Only thing is might be more Western than Eastern.

Ocala Sales has thoroughbreds horses selling at 600 thousand. Best in the World and buyers and sellers from the whole World. That's only certain times of the year but check it out.

What a shame that JNB Horse Farm, in Weirsdale went bankrupt. We went riding there in April 2010 and at that time they said they were barely surviving day-to-day. The Ocala national forest was a nice place to ride.

I know just what you mean. I also miss the smell and touch of horses, and riding. I miss living on a horse farm. I miss the bond I had with Encore, the horse I owned for over 20 years. In 2006, sadly Encore had to be euthanized. A sad time indeed. However in 2007, we bought our house in The Villages. When one door closes, another opens.
