A new movie 'Twilight' was released on Friday, but for some unknown reason, neither Old Mill nor The Rialto is running it. I've been waiting for it for weeks.
Does any one know how to contact the theaters (other than the automated recording phone number?)
I would really like to know why they wouldn't be carrying a major movie release.

The managers of both these theaters seem quite friendly in person and you can talk to them as you sometimes find them asking how such and such a movie was. You might also get a better answer in person than over the phone.

My guess is that they thought the market for the movie Twilight here in TV was weak.

Twilight is a teen movie directed at teenage girls primarily. If you are into vampires, you most likely will enjoy it.

It is also in "limited release" at the moment.

Twilight did better from the early weekend estimates than Quantum of Solace in its first three days so I doubt if this is a limited release. http://www.the-numbers.com/interactive/newsStory.php?newsID=3843

It is just probably one of those movies like the Saw series that the Villages movie theater management feel would not attract a large enough audience here in TV.

I believe that every movie theater can choose what it wants to play. I believe there are several movies that would have been nice to see and they were not shown here. That is ok, now that gas prices are lower we can give Leesburg our business.

From what one of the Old Mill Playhouse (OMP) managers said while introducing one of the movies at one of their various film festivals; OMP has to show some movies to get copies of other movies that may play better in the Villages. Like they would have to show The Hills Have Eyes 2 to get something like Wild Hogs. I do not know if this was actually the case with this pair but movie distributors often seem to give the theaters little if any choice with which movies they offer.

I still cannot understand why 3:10 to Yuma never made it to TV's theaters. I went to Leesburg's AMC to see that one.

Did see "Flash of Genius" last night with the girls and it was well done, excellent acting.

Recently there was a question about why "W" wasn't playing here in TV. Makes sense to me with 70 % of villagers registered Republicans. If I managed the movie theatre I would try to present movies that would be interesting to the most folks here.

It appears that the two movie theaters do quite well here in TV...People here have the time and the money to go to movies quite often , I myself go much more now than I ever did when I was working..
However I'm much more selective now that I'm older and not interested in seeing any teenybopper movies or one that show a lot of gore for gore's sake.
Silence of the Lambs was gory but the story line was good and I liked the stars in it..... Now, if the movie is bad I get up and walk out of it especially if it insults my intelligence ...I have no time or patience for teenage boys and girls jumping from sack to sack and running from vampires........
I'm sure the theater owners know what we seniors like and try to acquire movies accordingly.............
by the way what every happened to Jimmy Durante.......

fumar ......

And why do I know exactly what Fumar and Chuck are talking about here? I am just a sweet, young thing. (But I do not like vampire movies.)

And does anybody know who Mrs. Calabash really was?

I am happy to report that I was introduced to Mrs. Calabash not two weeks ago. She is here in TV. She did look a little pained when I said "the line".

Wonder why Jimmy Durante is associated with vampires here on TOTV? I cannot find anything to relate these two?

Gracie girl,

You're right about the movie "W"; we wanted to see it, but now we'll have to see it on DVD! We knew it would never be shown at the Villages' theaters.

We drove to Leesburg to see it.

Apparently Jimmy Durante never explained who she was. Some think is was his deceased first wife, another story is that it was a restaurant owner that he came across in his vaudeville travels.
