Last night while up late reading on my back lanai off Enrique Drive about 12:45 AM I heard in unison howling coming from the preserve area off the cul de sac of Fortaleaza Drive....I also heard several dogs barking once the howling started....I have no doubt this was the sound of Coyotes my neighbor's told me existed near us when we were searching for our Shadow.......I have now accepted the fact that the fate of our dear Shadow who never returned to us when he escaped in January was probably not a good one...HOWEVER I resent that the Villages Daily Sun chooses to filter pertinent information such as this (just like the Burglaries were filtered from the newspaper) and HOPE all of you TOTV people share such important information for all our safety...In Memory of Shadow......:ohdear:

So sorry that happened to you. I wish people would be careful of pets in their golf carts too.. I have seen dogs more than once in the nine years I've lived here go flying out of a cart. I See people everyday with them unrestrained and I know how much people love their dogs . It's so hard not to say anything it breaks my heart knowing how they will feel.........

Thanks for the information and I am so sorry to hear about Shadow. I knew a dog named Shadow for a while at Doggie Doo Run Run owned by a gruff but droll man named Bill D. Both are gone now.

There are many predators here including our American symbol, the eagle and other hawks and large cats. I am not sure that running a feature story would help anything other than to add to the information of people who have moved here from large cities and had not lived with this danger before..., but it would make people who are missing their dear pets and grieving them feel more anxious and worse in my opinion.

When a pet get's out, it is rarely due to neglect but rather a moment's breach and the agony when they are unaccounted for is beyond words to comfort.

I am very sorry for your loss. I know that Shadow lived a wonderful life with you and we all pray to meet him on the other side of the rainbow bridge.

So sorry for your loss. Reading the various posts on TOTV about lost and missing pets motivated me to make an appointment to have our Yorkie microchipped before we set off to TV and your post, mrich61 raises my consciousness to other concerns such as you raise. Thank you.

We have had several coyote sightings in Amelia. I saw one this week at dawn sauntering, not running, in front of our house. It meandered up the street and likely onto the golf course. I walked Olivia in the opposite direction much later.
