I just wrote the RNC explaining to them that for the first time in my adult life I am waiving my right to cast a vote in either the primary race and the general election. My reasons are as follows.

There is not one candidate in either party that is qualified to hold this office.

On the Democrat side the choice is either a communist or a crook. Worse yet this crook is allowed to continue her campaign gaining support when on the face of the allegation against her is at minimum incompetence and garners great mistrust. As new releases continue its obvious this candidate used a personal server to hide her work product and more importantly her dealing via Clinton Foundation (her personal SuperPac) and dealings with foreign governments while serving as Secretary of State. If she is allowed to continue it is sending a signal to the world that the US government is as corrupt as any third world power.

As to the RNC beside the fact that no candidate is qualified the RNC and GOP power brokers are telling voters that their opinions don't matter.
The RNC and GOP power brokers demanded, at the first presidential debate, that all GOP candidates pledge to support the eventual GOP nominee and also pledge not to go third party. So Trump begins to crush the competition and what do these power brokers from GOP do, work toward defeating Trump and threatening to have their candidate go third party.
I am not a Trump supporter but up until now I believed in the process. No longer its rigged

The real threat to this nation is not ISIS it is corrupt politician, its liberal educational institutions that are teaching our kids that capitalism is evil, that white men are evil and that socialism rules and that we should not pledge allegiance to the American flag but to an international flag. Its an Administration that has destroyed our military with his social lab experiments and now we find an indoctrination program wherein white privilege and heterosexual privilege are the enemy.

Do you see where is is going? I do and I am thoroughly disgusted.

Oh dear, the RNC is going to be devestated to hear that you are not going to vote!

If you wrote them on an email, it will just be one more piece of spam they delete. If you wrote a snail mail to them, your letter will just add to the carbon pollution as it gets burned.

You are stuck in the 1950's un-homogenized America where the white always rose to the top. This is 2016 and whether you like it or not, America is a blend where diversity between cultures and lifestyles all meet.

You have the choice to evolve with the times or move to your own cabin in the middle of a piece of land and spend your last days sitting on the porch with your shotgun.

Well they know we have been failing for the last 7+ years.
They have been quiet about it, laughing behind closed doors as we continue to pay out money to our enemies.

They are afraid of Trump who has the potential to disrupt the flow of US money to those abroad.

They also figure we could not be so stupid as to elect a crimnal as president. Especially one that has vowed to continue Obama's failures.
However they also know that if the USA should be so stupid to elect a criminal, they will breathe a sigh of relief, that cronyism politics will continue to be business as usual.

You need a more credible source of news other than Fox. President Obama is very highly regarded throughout the world. This is what they say in Britain, for example: "In Europe, we see President Obama as an educated, thoughtful, and sincere man, whereas Donald Trump has all the finesse and demeanor of a demented circus clown." .. Colin Eccles, England. The Pew Research Center studies show that in general, across the board, particularly among U.S. allies in Europe and Asia-Pacific, Obama enjoys considerable public support, as opposed to his predecessor George Bush who was reviled abroad.

Any chance we can start over and get some real, decent candidates? I thought not but I can dream, right?

So, like you Republicans today, I'll grit my teeth the next four to eight years, pray mightily that the harm done by whomever is in office won't be too great and pray even harder that our next choices will be someone who deserves the position of POTUS. (The big difference is I won't denigrate whomever is elected but I might whine a lot to myself.)

As long as the USA keeps sending them the money, they will keep talking nice nice. As long as he continues to make give away deals like the Iran nuclear disator agreement, they will keep talking nice nice.
As long as they are allowed to ship their goods into the USA free of charges AND we are not allowed to either ship into theirs or WE must pay a tax to do so....they will keep talking nice nice.

The difference between Bush and Obama? Obama is the bow down to all comers, a$$ kissing, appologizer for the USA behavior, sucker upper, give the enemy the benefit of the doubt sympathizer.

Trump does Not have the potential to disrupt the flow of USA money to those abroad. Any of his bluster about import taxes would have to be approved by Congress. That is not going to happen

Congess knows that higher import taxes would be met with the foreign countries raising their tariffs and American goods would not be sold overseas.

Also, how would you like paying 45 percent more than now for a flat screen television at WalMart or Best Buy?

Trump is all talk about saying,"I know how to do it and they will listen to me."

Dear Guest: You can bet if I feel this way there are a lot more like me writing GOP. I do agree they will ignore my e-mail but then ignoring their GOP members is what got leading the pack.

Am I stuck in the 1950's? If so leave me there with people who were more ethical, civil, fair. You see it is apparent from your response that you fall into that trap that dividers have created to keep controversy going forward because it greases their wheels (palms). White privilege and heterosexual privilege were invented to keep wars going between the masses. Its how powerful people stay powerful. Just ask Al Sharpton .

I have always adapted to the times but I have not given way to my principles, moral character and beliefs .

The real threat to this nation is liberal educational institutions that are teaching our kids that capitalism is evil, that white men are evil and that socialism rules and that we should not pledge allegiance to the American flag but to an international flag. Its an Administration that has destroyed our military with his social lab experiments and now we find an indoctrination program wherein white privilege and heterosexual privilege are the enemy.
:
Amazing! The pledge of allegiance to the American flag by schoolkids is really just a rote exercise and has no meaning to them. Also, if foreign students are in that class, why would they be forced to pledge allegiance to a foreign flag? Basically, it is a worthless exercise for kids. I have never heard of an "international flag pledge".

Regarding the white men are evil diatribe. Look at the Spanish conquistidores, the Western expansion of the USA called "Manifest Destiny", the imprisoning of Japanese US citizens during WWII just to name a few. Lots of evil things have happened but schools also teach what achievements have occurred.

No, hetrosexual behavior is not evil but what is evil is the intolerance toward the LBGT community by hetrosexuals. They deserve ALL the human dignity and civil rights as hetrosexuals.

Finally, white privilege does not exist ANYMORE. You obviously have never gotten over the fact that a Black man is the leader of the USA and was elected to office TWICE! The next leader will be a woman. This is the 21st century. Deal with it!

A Republican friend threw this by me today. Does this have wings?

Obama doesn't like Hillary, and doesn't want Sanders as the Democratic nominee. So, he will not stop the legal charges that will be brought against Hillary. The super delegates will vote for Joe Biden in the first round. This will ensure that Hillary doesn't have enough delegates in the first round. This will cause a brokered convention. Since legal action will turn off most of the delegates Hillary won in the primaries, they will vote for Biden in the second round, and he will have enough delegates to be the Democratic nominee.

This might have been the plan along. Biden didn't have the people in place to run a winnable campaign. This is a way that he, and Obama got around it. He get the nomination without the fight.

The other long shot is Bernie blows her away.

Thank you, Red, for the thoughtful post. It really caught my attention because earlier today I was thinking abut this very subject brought up by the OP, and I thought surely there are intelligent folks on the opposite side of the aisle who feel the same way I do about the candidates in general. I know this to be true because my liberal, feminist aunt who would love to see a woman President will also not vote for Hillary and is disgusted by the process and what is going on. And then i read your post. As discouraged as I feel that what we have to choose from is less than desirable, I'm encouraged by the fact that there are some (maybe many) from both parties who could actually be in agreement with one another where politics is concerned regarding lack of quality candidates on both sides. Now if there was only something we could do other than chose from the lesser of 2 evils. Really getting tired of that scenario.

Have you ever listened to a Bernie speech? You won't see anyone dragged out of the room. Bernie's net worth is $520k. Maybe that makes him a looser in some people's eyes. He's 74. And while I'm younger and playing golf down here, he's trying to make a better future for my grandchildren. I'm not worried about getting my head chopped off or being robbed by a Latino but I am worried about the issues he addresses. The least I can do is post a link hoping someone has the time to at least listen to his speech.

I'm expecting the hate posts to follow. That's OK. Bring it on.

I'm not a Bernie supporter at all (his complaints and analysis are mostly correct, but it's his solutions are marxist-leninist....state controlled everything). But at least Bernie is authentic and not always working on covering up lies like that crooked, lying woman.

That said, I was all for Bernie when Black Lives Matter took over his microphone and drove him off the stage his campaign had organized and probably paid to rent the venue. I felt he should have stood up to them and talked about how "diversity" includes listening to diverse opinions.

When different opinions are no longer allowed to be heard in this country, we are slouching toward some kind of awful police state in which speech is censored, silenced and re-mixed/released in twisted tidbits by the media.

Sadly, the ones who claim to be so "liberal" and "accepting of others" and "open-minded" are the same ones shutting down Trump's rally of 25,000 in Chicago right now.

If you want freedom of speech for yourself or Bernie, you should allow freedom of speech for opposition, too. This is a really bad trend for our nation. Meanwhile, Obama and Clintons are loving every minute of this Alinsky-styled "Rules for Radicals" chaos and division.

And to the o.p., a search for the "perfect, pure" candidate is not going to happen. Since you're not for the current administration, you'd do well to vote against a third term of it named Hillary Clinton.

Saul Alinsky was a facinating person. He was kind to everyone and generous to a fault. Saul had a great sense of humor. He was a very spiritual person, too. Saul believed that no one should be suffering and did his best to level the playing field of life.

I am very fortunate to have had him as a teacher and was able to call him a friend. I miss Saul very much.

"Black lives, of course, matter. I spent 50 years of my life fighting for civil rights and for dignity," he said then. "But if you don't want me to be here, that's OK. I don't want to out-scream people."

Sanders has started to address race issues more than he did at the start of his campaign, but he still regularly frames issues of race and inequality as economic matters, arguing that the key to combating racial disparities is by raising wages and increasing opportunities.

I think you should be all for Bernie again. He doesn't see the issue as diversity. And the solution as tolerance. He sees the issue as an economic one, the haves and the have nots. I like that philosophy. If you don't want me to be here , that's OK. I like that message too.

Dear Guest:

Your comments make my argument regarding the pledge of allegiance to the American flag when you dismiss it out of hand. It tells me you just might not hold America in high regard? You may not recognized the many men and women who gave treasure and blood to permit you to openly blog your thoughts on this forum? Men and women who proudly display their flags on their lapels in their yards over the caskets of their deceased

As to pledging allegiance to an international flag a PSC school in New York did just that took an American flag and pasted foreign flags on it stripes and made the kids in that school pledge to an international flag. You apparently do not know how dangerous an act that is because your not following its intent to its illogical conclusion. and because you may not be aware that many progressives are aiming for an international community. Perhaps you may recognize one name Obama

As you point out men/women do bad things have and always will but America is the one place where such injustices are eventually reconciled.
You also omit that your judgment of these matters is based on today's political environment. I am of American Italian descent yet while my father and Uncles (1st generation) fought in WWII there had been an early attempt to place Italians along with Germans and Japanese in such camps.
They were the enemy then. There was confusion paranoia Pearl Harbor German U boats entering American ports. Many Japanese and Germans regret what their forefather wrought

Have you ever heard one Italian complain. Italian like many Europeans faced prejudice when immigrating here but turned their fruits of labor to purpose and not claiming civil rights but earning their way to community.

Your comments regarding white privilege ring out your inner hatred of white men. I say this because I wrote that devious people invented white/heterosexual privilege as a means to divide. Its why liberal universities offer multicultural class rather than the classics.

Liberals want to remake history and they ignore all the good beginning with the founders to present day.

IN COMMUNIST COUNTRIES THEY SAY THERE IS NO PAST BECAUSE THEY KEEP CHANGING IT.

NOW THEY SAY IN AMERICA THERE WILL BE NO PAST BECAUSE THEY KEEP CHANGING IT

You should write fiction novels, your post shows your very good at it.

The Pledge used to instill a sense of patriotic pride in the children from an early age. Why should WE give up our lifestyle to accommodate visitors? If they are immigrating to our country, then they should welcome our ideals. After all, it's to be their country also. We learned about the flag when I was young. We learned what the stars represented as well as what the stripes meant. We learned how our forefathers sacrificed to make our country free. We learned patriotic pride. That's why we got angry when liberal protesters burned our flag, the symbol of our pride and country. Children should not have to sacrifice because it might hurt someone's feelings. If it hurts their feelings, then they are in the wrong place. This is our country and our children should have pride and understanding of those that sacrificed to make it so great. We have the greatest country in the world, and no one/NO ONE is trying to break out of our country. PC can kiss my @ss along with any socialist that tries to make our country into a failed socialist European society.

I did not vote for Trump, but I fully understand how he can get mad at those that want to coddle protesters. They have their right to protest in the street, but not inside where people gather to listen to a candidate. You have NO first Amendment right to free speech on private property, period. If you want to take religion out of public properties, such as gov buildings and schools, then be prepared to get shut down when you try to impose your right to free speech on private property.

Call me a Nazi to my face and you will see what your free speech gets you. I am done with being called a Nazi because I am conservative. Democrats throw out the race card and bigot card if we don't agree with them. Well, it is they that don't agree with me and I consider them the party of slavery and more in tune with the Nazis than conservatives will ever be.

Let the protestors protest.

However, they have no right to get in anybody's face or push or grab at others signs.

The do this because they know most of the permissive generation will do nothing.

However let someone push them back or move them out of one's face and then they cry Mommy and fowl ().

Just a bunch or law breaking animals violating others rights and space while being given their moment of fame by the media or the liberal persuasion.

The stock market is being fed sugar by the FED all of which contributes nothing to our growth. Banks and corporations are sitting on cash or moving offshore because of Obama policies. We still haven't recovered from our recession which supposedly ended in 2009 . the last time that occur was in the 1930's As to the employment issue the participation rate is the lowest since the depression

The FED is feeding Obama and progressives Keynesian theories and its failing miserably. If you are a retiree you have lost the opportunity of interest savings for many years because of the FED.

Personally I am fed up with the FED and if I were king they would be disbanded

You are a sissy! All smoke no fire.

And how many of your friends, neighbors, golf buddies have visited China as a private citizen? Given China's proclivity to totally ignore human rights and willingness to imprison anyone who speaks against China, its leaders and Communism, do you proclaim those visitors to be non-patriotic as well? Visiting a nation for whatever reason does not make someone love their country less, it frequently means a simple desire to see something new and different.

All of the name calling here is ridiculous at best, embarrassing to say the least, hurtful at worst. It is inexcusable by either side. You boys really should try sticking to the issues. This forum would be so much more enjoyable.

Dean Martin a liberal started it. Remember when Dean use to sing his girlfriend Volare who was a conservative he loved:

Volare, oh oh
Contardi, oh oh oh oh
Let's fly way up to the clouds
Away from the maddening crowds
We can sing in the glow of a star that I know of
Where lovers enjoy peace of mind
Let us leave the confusion and all disillusion behind
Just like bird of a feather, a rainbow together we'll find

Personal Best Regards:

Well said. tq

Dear Guest:

Please explain why my recitation of FDR, Johnson, Carter, Clinton and Obama's policies, now a part of history, are snide remarks? Its not like I claimed Obama lied and people died. The Democratic Party continues to move far left and both Sanders and Clinton wear the socialist label proudly.

Perhaps the discomfort you are feeling is recognition of the wrong path your party is taking? Perhaps your quarrel is not with me but your Party?
I was once a Democrat but in the 1960's the Party left me and so I registered Republican.

Today, I find the Republican Party wanting which explains Trumps' popularity which I also find perplexing?

My posts simply speak to my displeasure with socialism and my belief in our capitalistic market free economy.

Finally if you desire to reply and can make a case that my remarks are derogatory then I will apologize because that is not my intent... And in that same vein may I apologize for making you uncomfortable

The word bully and sissy bother me.
They feel like children's words to me. It doesn't bother me if a man sounds more like his mother than his father but I wouldn't call him a sissy. Maybe in the third grade I did but not now.

Bully---who is a bully? Is a Mafia boss a bully? Was Patton a good bully? How about Tyson? That word seems appropriate for an overgrown 8 year old pushing down 6 year olds in a playground. That's the image I imagine when I hear the word, not Tyson or Capone. But I can't find a better word than intimidator. There must be a better word in the English language to depict these types of adults. Can you think of one?

I suppose if you read the same input provided to folks like Clinton at the time, you too would have supported the effort.

This after the fact BS pumping to make a political statement is nothing more than partisan mind bending.

I mean if Clinton bought in, surely it was obvious appropriate action must be taken and hence supported the president. With her hatred for republican anything why else would she and all the others support the measure???

Why would they support the action presented?

I agree, we have to deal with our poor in this country before we send more money and aid to other countries. Send help yes! But not money so their corrupt governments can spend it on them selves. I also agree we should be charging an import fee on all goods coming into the USA to create an even playing field. Those countries that pay their help pennies to our dollars and then charge import duty on our goods as well or will not at all allow our goods into their country is just not right. The same goes for religion....if a Christian church is not allowed in that country then they should not be allowed to build OR impose their laws here. All these one sided deals are not agreeable and should not be allowed. I know that is not Christian but....beheading Christians is not also. The UNITED STATES has become so liberal that the rest of the world has taken advantage of us and laughed at us all the way to the bank.

1] I also agree we should be charging an import fee on all goods coming into the USA to create an even playing field.

2] Those countries that pay their help pennies to our dollars and then charge import duty on our goods as well

1] This will mean higher prices for Americans and less purchase power. I agree with you.

2] You also want other countries to raise their workers salaries so we can become more competitive too. This will also mean higher prices for Americans and less purchase power. I agree with you on that point too.

Is this common sense, a conservative point of view or a liberal point of view?

Really? You would rather the president call for a red line and then not back it up? Or, how about Hillary that says she would have a No Fly Zone but said she would never put boots on the ground. We've had our fill of paper tigers, that have caused our allies to shun us, lose respect for us. As for Bush 41 keeping W out of war, I believe that 41 served us well in WWII. W did volunteer for WestPac orders, but did not receive them. Was that 41's doing? I don't see the relevance of your comment to America now and the election. Neither Bush is running for office.

Being ready to defend America and it's allies is not being a "warmonger." It's protecting family, if nothing else. The only thing that has protected us in recent years from a heavy assualt, has been the oceans surrounding us. And that has not been a guarantee. Obama has been a weak president like we have not seen since Carter.

Thank you for your post. I find it so credulous that people think that opinions are hard fact news. Trump is a total disaster for America. No substance..nothing that makes sense. The media says that Americans are voting for him because they are angry but I have yet to hear what they so darn angry about! Other than the rich getting richer and the middle class getting poorer. Good grief! Trump is not going to fix that!

Republicans are to blame for the middle class getting poorer! Our minimum wage is too high says many! Wake up America before it is too late!!
