This is the second water main failure in this area in the last year or so. These developments are only ten years old. According to a google search, water mains have an expected life of 75 years. Was there a decision to use cheaper materials, a problem in the installation? Any guarantee from the contractor? Could this be defective materials. At least the roofing company that had shingle failures did step up and fix the problem.

This latest break was within ten yards of the break from a month or so ago, so, Perhaps either a faulty repair was done or there is something inherently wrong in that section of pipe. Still, point well taken...you wouldn't expect water line breaks within the first ten years. Hardly an aging infrastructure.

At least the roofing company that had shingle failures did step up and fix the problem.up in Hacienda/mira Mesa they replaced all water mains and house supply lines ( making a nice mess doing it) for lines less than 30 years old. some builder eh?
