A Precautionary Boil Water Notice has been issued for Residents within the North Sumter Utility Service Area (NSU) due to a 12” water main break that occurred on Canal Street.

The affected homes are all located within the following areas and can be seen on the map by clicking the header of this announcement:

1795, 1783 Canal Street (Postal & Pool)


Carlton Villas
Hampton Villas
Oleander Villas
Golden Grove Drive
Mountville Court
Magrath Way
Oswego Lane
Guerard Ave
Feliciana Terr
Pamplico Court
Ridgeland Path
Winnsboro Drive

Signs are placed at the entrance to affected streets,Villages and Villas.

By Authority of Section 381.006 and 403.855-857, Florida Statutes, the following procedures must be observed while a Precautionary Boil Water Notice is in effect

As a precaution, all water used for handwashing, drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, cooking, and washing dishes be boiled briskly for one (1) minute prior to use. All ice cubes should be discarded and only boiled water used for making ice. As an alternative, bottled water can be used.

This Precautionary Boil Water Notice will remain in effect until the problem has been corrected and bacteriological tests show that the water is safe.

:) The March 14, 2016 Precautionary Boil Water Notice (PBWN) for the NORTH SUMTER UTILITY SERVICE AREA (NSU) is hereby rescinded after receiving clear bacteriological tests. Please allow water to run for five minutes at each tap to flush the lines with safe water. Remember, now that the PBWN is lifted, you should discard the first bin full of ice dropped.
