A helicopter seems to be doing a search above The Villages. It has been circling for hours. Anyone know what they're looking for?

An Alzheimer's patient is missing. Her name is Audrey. She was wearing blue clothing -- think they said her hair was "reddish". Don't know where she lived or where she was when last seen. Cashier at CVS on 466 told my husband this morning.

We just got back from golf at Belmont. She evidentaly lives right off the one par 4 hole on belmont.
I must say that the search was very impressive. The copter searched the entire hour and half that we golfed. Ambassadors came by and told everyone to be on the look out for her. Numerous neighbors were out looking. People came up and down the cart paths again informing everyone of the missing lady. Police were always going up and down the streets.
Our prayers are with her. If I or any loved ones are ever "lost" , I hope that it happens in TV.

It is so sad and so heartwarming too to know that a lost one is so quickly responded to.

They are just starting some sort of ALERT system, similar to the Amber Alert, but for people with advance stages of Alzheimer's.
I wish there was some sort of Alert system here in the area!!
When someone elopes from their safe places....it is very scary for everyone!
If there was an alert, they could specify what the person would react well to....that way whoever finds them first can bring them to safety!!

That's interesting. I saw a helicopter circling a couple of weeks ago around LSL and the up and down Buena Vista. I thought they might be taking pictures or ??. BTW it was black. Hmmm.

Please tell us when they find her.
In this electronic age, why don't they make an extended range fm transmitter which one would attach to a patient's ankle. In most cases confused individuals do not wander more than a few hundred yards from where they live and in rare cases a few miles. An ankle alert would solve the problem.

They do make these electronic systems. We use them in baby nurseries (we call them baby lojack) and they are used in many elder care settings. It's called WanderGuard. Right now I haven't seen them for home use but I'll bet there are some devices out there for that.
Here is an info page on WanderGuard http://www.seniortechnologies.com/content/productinfo/wg/longterm/04WG%20D.pdf

There are GPS bracelets available through the police department. Don't know the particulars;; i.e., cost, etc. but my neighbor had one. They are monitored by police department and when someone "wanders off" (which happened with my neighbor) they can locate them. We live in Belvedere and the night this happened he was found up by the High School.
Any one know if the lady was found?

I haven't heard anything about the missing lady on the news. I was so worried about her yesterday. The Villages Radio Station mentioned her description and asked people to be on the lookout for her. The helicopter search and efforts to find her were very impressive.
I am praying she is OK and back home. Please, if anyone finds out about her, please post it here.
