We are closing on our home in TV Monday and would like to add a flag pole. Is there a company that does that? Thanks, Pat
Before you add the flag pole you should inquire if there are an restrictions on where it can be installed.

Thanks. I was going to ask the installer if he gets the necessary permits.

Sorry ,,,that won't work here , You have to get an application and fill it out and then submit it for approval .....THEN contact an installer..........
They'll give it to you , Its just that you have to jump through a few hoops...

The Villages never makes things simple. I suppose if you want scented toilet paper, you'd need to fill out a form, then check with this guy, then he approves it to that guy, then it goes to a committee who passes it to someone else. The list just goes on ad infinitum around here.
My house (paid for), my yard (paid for) my flag pole (paid for), my toilet paper
(in subcommittee for approval).
Sometimes I even wonder if my place belongs to me or does some "committee" own it and lets me use it as long as I pay for it and stick to their "little book". Come to think of it, maybe that would not be a bad idea. A book that lets you know what you CAN do has to be about 10 times smaller than whatever book they have that tells you what you CAN'T do.
Every time YOU want to do something, you need to check if first you can do it. I get so sick of this place sometimes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is this the form that is in the front of the Villages Phone Book?

Yes, the contractor can handle the architectural review application, if one is required. My landscaper installed my flagpole and handled all that. It's a real simple process, and contrary to what a lot of folks moan about, is really needed in a community like TV. Maybe it might be my neighbor's home and his property, but I don't want him putting a two-story water slide in the back yard, painting his house fuchsia and yellow, or putting up an 8 foot chain link fence to contain his pit bulls.
Per their write-up (http://www.districtgov.org/vccdd/deedrestrict.asp), "This committee is responsible for approving any and all alterations, changes or modifications to the property and home as built by the developer. This requirement for prior approval includes but is not limited to: porch or patio enclosures, canopies, awnings, garage screens, additional concrete, coloring of walks, landscaping and driveways and modifications to previously approved plans." Call them at 751-6719 for details.
Re a source for the pole, there's a good flag store on hiway 25 across the street from the Lady Lake http://thevillagesflags.com/ Don't know if they'll do the permit routine, but they have good poles and do a good installation.
