Is anyone experiencing a rather nasty cold that hangs on and refuses to move on. Some lousy nose congestion, + other bad things including lots of coughing. I was curious if this is kind of going around in The Villages?
..Thanks..:ho:

Pollen

Interestingly enough there is another thread on this very same subject.

Male pollens have 2 tentacles and when inhaled causes a runny nose and when stepped on, cause smelly feet. It could be that.

The other reason you may have a runny nose and smelly feet is that you might be built upside down. You should consult with your doctor. You know very little about science and the human body.

Incidentally right now there are many things going around in The Villages. For the next 48 hours I would avoid the circles.

I had a similar cough last winter that lasted 3 weeks. I found the only thing that cured it was spreading a lot of chili powder on everything I ate.

This is the second time you have mentioned upper respiratory congestion in two weeks, and now you mention a cough. I am a card carrying mother and have practiced as a mother for more than fifty years and my recommendation is that you see a doctor and rule out anything nasty that might be working on you.

It sounds bossy, but is meant kindly.

Wow, what a bunch of terrible people. How mentally ill can they be to mock
someone who reaches for some information. The request was at the wish of
someone who does not use TOTV's. I can honestly say how disappointed I was to tell them of your responses. They did see a Dr. and they were interested if it was a general resident problem. They are quite religious and have more faith in people than I do. It is Easter time and this is even more sad at this time of year. I wonder how many will go to church and pretend to love their neighbor.
Maybe a little extra prayer to forgive them for passing up those that are suffering. This will not stop me from trying to help others and in fact may make we stronger. I was where they are a few weeks ago. God bless you all.:(

Be careful about the doctors down here if you've ever touched a cigarette in your life. They love to diagnose COPD when it's actually allergies. Try taking allegra and see if it helps.

Please read every one of the posts above. There are a total of five and only one that is kind of a joking response. The rest mentioned pollen and allergies and one mentioned chili powder and spicy stuff does sometimes open up our nasal passages, and mine was very sincere. I meant it when I said that you (because I thought it was YOU) should consult a doctor, particularly that you mentioned a cough, which could be the beginning of pneumonia. Your angry answer is ...disappointing.

I had this exact same thing for 2 weeks back in February. I was miserable! Went to urgent care after 1 week with it and was told it was going around and it was viral. Would last 10 days to 2 weeks. It did. Sorry you got it.

Listen to mother.

I tried to self-medicate an upper respiratory problem for a couple of weeks. Fortunately, I had a regularly scheduled visit with my primary care doctor about that time. He said I had severe bronchitis, gave me a shot and a prescription for medications as well as telling me to take an over the counter treatment.

I immediately got better. At the age of most people in The Villages there is the constant danger of an upper respiratory problem turning into pneumonia.

Listen to mother.

That's why it's important to keep our pneumonia vaccine up to date, including the booster shots.

I think you misread the posts. While sometimes this is true, your post had no rude responses. Their doctor should have been able to tell them if something is "going around", just as well as anyone on here.

I have not heard of a booster shot for the pneumonia vaccine. I swear I remember they said it is a once a life deal. I do know that having both of them does not guarantee you won't get yet another form of pneumonia, but they help a lot.

Added later. By George flyerguy, you are right. Sez here under certain circumstances a booster shot is needed. This forum really adds to our information, time and time again.

Of 4 responses at the time one referred to "smelly feet" and some other lousy
statement. After the first 4 some did have some positive remarks and were helpful to tell the very aged person. :(
