cable tv wiring ?

Just bought a new TV for the master bedroom. Went to hook it up and no signal. Tried it in bd2 & 3 no signal. Works in the living room. Checked in the box and only one wire was connected. Went to ace and got a splitter still no signal. Hooked up the other bed rooms direct and no signal. I am stumped. Any one have any ideas as to why this is happening?

we just had cable installed at the inlaws (comcast) a couple of weeks ago and we had to spend an extra $5 a room to have the bedrooms "turned on". It seemed like a scam to me , but what the heck.

Well there SHOULD be a wire at the cable box for each of your outlets in the house. I believe in my house they are all direct runs. So for the 3 BR's and the 2 outlets in the LR there were 5 cables that were all connected to a splitter in the cable box outside.
How many wires are there in the cable box?
Have you checked the back of the outlets in each room to see if the wires are connected to them? Maybe the faceplate is there, but it isn't connected.
We had some problems with the internet that had to do with signal strength - the tech came to the house and did line checks on each. Have you looked into getting a meter that can measure a signal down each wire? This way you could isolate the dead wires.

Comcast came out today. The splitter was bad. Go figure. Anyways all is good now.

For the houses built uner the personalization package, even the number and placement of cable outlets depends upon what "package" that you want. That is, if you want a certain color of carpet or style of kitchen cabinets, then you better like the number and placement of outlets that comes with that package. (Go figure!) We really wanted to have a cable outlet on the lanai, but I don't believe our package included it. Perhaps we will be pleasantly surprised to find one out there when we finally get down there.

Which raises another question. For CBS construction, can you have a cable brought out to the lanai as an aftermarket add-on?

There is a couple who were former Clearlink (Comcast bought them out) employees, that have an ad in the Daily Sun. They will put a outlet where ever you want. I had one added to the kitchen of my block house.

I remember the Comcast fellow asking if we wanted all the cable hook-ups turned on. I don't know what he did exactly, but I would bet it has something to do with a code to the office that recognizes the cable hook-ups. If I remember correctly, he charged under $100 to do all the cable hook-ups. You might want to call Comcast directly.
