Where have you seen alligators here in The Villagers ?
Mostly in the ponds on the golf courses, but one was in a flower bed on a neighbor's property the other day. You can't go looking for them, like in a zoo. They don't stay put and are frequently submerged.
For people with a longing to see them up close and personal, go to Gatorland, near Orlando. They've got hundreds of them in all sizes, from babies to monsters.

We have seen Larry as well. We have seen the one by Palmer and two small ones in the pond by Palms course and Freedom Point.

I saw a small one a few days ago in a pond on a golf course in The Villages of Caroline. It's on the right on Stillwater Trail heading toward O'Dell. I don't know which golf course it is or what hole, but just past the Caroline mailboxes and just before the Kaylee Villas there are two ponds. I've seen them there before.

There has been a 4/5 foot gator in the pond at Turtle Mound Executive course. It was handing out around the 7th green when I was there.

There was one in the pond at Saddle brook too but I don't know if it still resides there.

When it's hot and sunny, many times I've seen gators in the pond south of Palmer CC.
They seem to be especially active during mating season!

We saw two today at Sweetgum. Basically, you can assume their is one in every pond in Florida.

Mating season is upon us so sightings and mating calls should increase.

There was a huge one in the Charlotte pond till a couple weeks ago. I guess the people living there complained and they hauled it off...Sad! There is a small one in the smaller pond on the corner of Hillsburough and Charlotte now...🐊

My backyard. I'm on Evans Prairie. I've seen a number of them, from lil' bitty guys to a seven footer.

sad if it happened.....too many ignorant people live here. Example, the RC club that said the three foot gator was aggressive since it attacked a duck. The native wildlife here is an attraction. Cull all of the invasive coyotes and hogs all you want but leave the natives here.

This guy is 8ft long! He was in the pond behind the house in Charlotte . It was about a week ago. He hung out for about a half hr before all the attention he got and went back into the pond. Click on the picture to enlarge it.

The 8 ft plus gator is still in the pond at Charlotte. The big guy was walking around the neighborhood and decided to hang out on the front doorway of my neighbor across the street for a while. Thank goodness they were not home. Imagine opening up your front door and seeing that guy!

Saw one in the pond along St Charles, just before the Sunset Point Gate. They are fun to watch, living dinosaurs. But we do look carefully before we open our front door...

Gus the Gator has been in the retention pond in The Village of Valle Verde. I heard one was hauled away from there but I think it was a bigger one. I have also seen Chula Vista Chewy in the pond on Chula Vista golf course. He isn't too big, but loves to sun bath on the banks.

I'm really surprised nobody that lives near the pond on Charlotte Ct. near Captiva Rec. Center hasn't complained about the 2 gators that are in there. 1 of them is probably at least 7 to 8 ft. & the other is about 6 ft. I always thought the Villages took them out when they got to be about 5 ft. I guess they don't until they start going after cats & dogs. Maybe the Villages doesn't read these things or take them serious!

There was a rather small one in the retention pond on Hole 7, Osprey, Evans Prairie Course several weeks ago. Haven't seen it lately. They move from pond to pond. Rather small was approx. 5 feet long and thin. Not an older gator with the wide head and fat body.

So true. We leave them alone....they leave us alone. Just respect them and keep pets and children away from the pond edge.

spotted a 7-8 footer on the bank between the 4th and 5th hole on Heron Monday.
If teeing off on the 5th hole the gator is behind you just below the bridge

When we first moved here a man from Fish and Game said about alligators. "If you are in the Southeast US and there is fresh water assume that there is an alligator present". One of the most frightful things I've seen recently was a family exercising their dog in a pond near El Camino Real. I have seen gators in that pond. I couldn't stop because of traffic so I hope the dog is still with them.

Yes! There's one in Lake Miramar and I've seen them in Lake Sumter, but the weirdest location is in the pond just east of Walmart on 466. There are two about 4-5 feet long. One or both can frequently be seen sunning on the 'mud bar' near the bank closest to Walmart.
