Wanted to say hello. We close on our house on April 14 in the Village of Woodbury. We're still in the process of selling our house in VA, once that's done we'll be living here full time!!! We can't wait. We're originally from MA, but the Coast Guard took us from one side of the country to the other. Looking forward to meeting new friends!!

Hello BobKi,
Welcome to the Villages, you'll love it here ! My wife and I close on our house on 3/30 . I also was in the Coast Guard (1980 - 1984). My last duty station was Juneau Alaska. The TOTV is a great site for info .

BobKi,
Hope all goes well with your sale and you get down here in April. I am sure you will love it here.
While you are waiting, do a search on this website for info for newbies. There several things you should NOT do right away. Many people move in, and immediately start making changes, sometimes spending lots of money and later wishing they had not.
I usually tell people to live in the house for a year, talk to your neighbors and new friends, and then start to look a possible additions or changes.
There are several threads on this subject, as well a book.
Hope this helps.

Congrats. Best wishes as you start living the dream.
I agree a lot of changes to your home should not done be right away. First decide if this is the house you are going to stay in, for the long term.

Greetings, we moved here just 3 weeks ago and it has exceeded even our high expectations. Only problem is with so much to see and do we still have unpacked boxes in our garage!! :) Hope your transition goes smoothly.

BobKi,
Congratulations on soon being full-time Villagers.
My wife and I completely redid our home when we moved in. Having said that, I was in real estate for 41 years and have lived in a number of new homes over the years, so we knew exactly what we wanted when we purchased. Unless you are familiar with TV and what you like in your homes do exactly as those above suggested that you do and that is NOTHING until you know for sure. That is sound advice -- take it. :)
And you will love it here. We have only lived here for 1.5 years and we still marvel at how unbelievably wonderful this place is. It IS heaven here on earth.
Enjoy.

Welcome to The Villages and to the quiet and beautiful little Village of Woodbury that we love so much. I am glad you choose to heed the very wise advice of Villagetinker. We moved here in Dec 2012 and chose to do the same. Take your time, get accustomed to stores, prices, covenant rules in the deed, (nothing scary),gadgets.
Very best wishes on your closing and may you have a safe trip down to lower Paradise!
