What options have been used, the only way we see is to remove the end panel screen and attach the cage from there. Since the outdoor table and chairs would be in the cage how can it be protected from the rain other than an umbrella?

T&D are the absolute masters of screen enclosures. AND cement. AND swimming pools and Vera is the finest designer. I am voting for her for president. T&D are two brothers and one does the cement and pools and the other does the screen and buildings such as bathroom additions. It works very well indeed.

If you can get it approved, the bird cage can be covered with sunbrella material.

Also you can have a screened pergola installed extending from your lanai. Magellan Remodeling Services does a lot of those. It would not be protected from rain but does offer good shade. You can see photos at pergolakings.com

Totally disagree with you. I had an Oversize Golf Cart Garage added to our Courtyard Villa and invited no less than 9 contractors to consider ... T & D happen to be one of them.

T & D's recommendation was terrible and one of the worst, and extremely expensive especially compared to the others. Plus like many contractors they have a Portable Outhouse stuck in front of your home for the duration of the job.

We ended up choosing " XL Construction " Tel. 352-266-1102 .. Paul White. In fact Paul has a fantastic reputation here in The Villages...another point..No Money Down. And NO...Repeat No....Outhouse in front of your house...Summer is around the corner if ya get the drift.

Birdcage problem in the online news that went 12 years before complaint rose. Better make sure it's within the limits meaning reading and understanding deed restrictions before you build?

Look since you brought this up at a guess defending T & D honestly out of the 9 contractors we considered they T & D ranked 7th.
I have no idea why you chose to defend T & D..I am glad that you apparently had a good experience(s) with them ..good. My neighbor 3 doors up from me had a pool installed by T&D, 4-5 months later when it was finally completed plus daily the aggravation of the constant clean-up when they left, and of course the Port-O- Potty in front of there home for the full length of the contract.

Honestly they had a driveway social and the clean up crew for Port a Potty showed up... needless to say the wind was in the wrong direction... the end result....The Drive-Way Social ...Ended.

You can defend T & D all you want I have absolutely no axe to grind with them.. but in my opinion they are Way Over Rated !!! Get 5+ more Quotes on your project.

I believe that the portapotty is an OSHA requirement for a construction job site. The folks that built your garage. Did they use your bathroom? Or the bushes?

You might want to put the table & chairs under the lanai portion (under roof), and your other assorted stuff under the bird cage.

Even if you put a cushion chair under the roof of lanai they still may get wet. In the birdcage I bring the cushions in every evening

On the OSHA requirement you are Totally Wrong....You are Assuming. The other question regarding the men who actually built the garage and their were many did not use our bathroom. Where did they go ? I have no clue..

Look I have offered sound advice to the person who posted a question. The back and forth question and answer period with you has for me...Ended

They can use the "public" bathrooms located at all the neighborhood pools; just like all the landscape/yard maintenance people and other workers. This is approved by TV management.

Asianthree is right about things getting wet. In the summer when it rains every day things do get wet even under roof. I try to move them in and away but sometimes you forget. It is wise to get water tolerant furniture, even in the lanai and things that don't rust. When we first moved here I think it was the Villages Kahuna that said that anything you could do to your home to take advantage of the outdoors was wise and he is right. That is the advantage of living in this wonderful area where it is almost always pleasant outside.

I hope you find the right person to build your birdcage and that you enjoy finding furniture for it and that you spend many happy hours with family and friends in it.

You might like to investigate Elite Lifestyles of Florida. There is a flyer for some open houses in today's Sun. They offer a convertible roof that keeps the rain off when closed, but is completely screened in. We love the one they did on our courtyard villa. We really wanted more outdoor space instead of another "room". As with any screened enclosure, wind driven rain will come in from the sides, but you don't get the drenching from above. With appropriate outdoor furniture, it is not a big problem fo us..
