Friends

Can you please enlighten us on which local Heating and A/C companies are reputable, reasonable and easy to work with in the area. We are replacing our 15 yo HVAC with new because of renovation and expansion. We will be grateful for your tips and experiences with different contractors. Lots of companies and products, but little information for feedback, so we thank you in advance.

Thanks,
Pegamyheart

Get at least three estimates. You will need a new lineset, air handler and condensing unit, as you will be going from R-22 to R-410a.

Cost depends on the size of the unit, SEER Rating, etc. The lowest price may very well not be the best choice.

I would buy the RIGHT size unit for your NEW remodeled needs. A good company should do a new Manual J to accurately determine the correct tonnage unit.

The higher the SEER rating, the more efficient your unit will be and the more money you will save. Of course, the higher the SEER, the higher the up front cost.

Buy from a company you know will be around for the next 15 years for service. You have many options here. Munn's, Sunshine, SunKool are the big three here. There are many others. I have even seen a Bruno Air truck around here recently, so even they are expanding.

Hope that helps! At least you know that this new unit should cost MUCH less to run than your old one.

We had numerous estimates from the big ones that Frank mentioned. We choose DeSantis in Wildwood. We are also having an addition put on and they did all the calculations needed. They even convinced me to buy a lower SEER rated unit than Sun Kool wanted to sell me. After the unit was installed the owner of the company came out and inspected the installation. PM me if you want more information.

Love Chuck Farrell. Honest, dependable, knows HVAC inside and out. If you do a search for his name, you'll see where many have used him and are quite satisfied.

When our HVAC needed replacing April 2015 we got several estimates and DeSantis 352-753-3166 were without doubt the best , and I'm not just talking about price.
they came to my house, measured and calculated my needs then told me I didn't need the larger unit others were trying to sell me. The installers were on time and very professional. When the installation was completed the owner Frank DeSantis came to the house to personally inspect and made sure I was happy.

A Very Good Trustworthy Company.

Just called Chuck. Said he does not do mini-splits any more.

:024: Does Aprilaire do a nice job of filtering the dust, pollen and mold from the air in the house? Or is an electronic air filter the way to go?

Electronic w/UV is the most effective.

Electronic w/UV is the most effective.

100% correct and the best time to do it is with a new installation.

The UV light in the air stream makes a big difference in air quality and in keeping the A-coil clean and free of any possible mold or mildew collection.

Chuck Farrell, he did ours last year. Call him and at least get a price from him, he's very competitive in his pricing. In my case it was over a $1000 less. We also had a 20% drop in usage. He is also a very honest man. Len & Mary

I love Chuck Farrell. 352.787.9497 (cell) 352.516.0192

First year here, my A/C quit. He came out on Memorial Day, (the day that was the actual holiday).

Second time, the A/C was not working right. I had a broken cover that Sunshine said they didn't sell parts for. When Chuck came, he fixed the problem and gave me a new cover that was lying around the shop. He didn't charge me anything for the cover.

Mike came both times and really knows his stuff. They are very honest and competent.

I would not hesitate to call Chuck if my A/C finally bit the bullet!

I second that; he won't try to gouge you or sell you something you don't need; his techs are also great and personable.
