I have two questions:

1. What is the best steakhouse in area if price is not an issue?

2. What is the best steakhouse in the area for the price?

Please don't include the national chains like lonestar, Outback etc.

Ocala has a Brazilian steakhouse on 441 called Iperdema (unsure of spelling) that is out of this world. Classy service, good menu choices, and prepared to order. Expect to pay 40 to 50 dollars per person with one or two adult beverages.

Alfies on SR 25 (near lake Weir) provides a good steak for reasonable price. About 20 dollars per person.

Also, if price not an issue, MARK's PRIME STEAKHOUSE in downtown Ocala (they have a square much like TV). The do things Ruth Criss style.
Also on the Ocala square is Harry's Seafood Bar & Grill - Very good Cajun style and a bit more moderately priced.
Felix's in Ocala
and
Horse & Hounds (nw of town)
are both good

The best steakhouse we've eaten at is Bern's in Tampa. As far as I know, it is the only non-chain that serves dry aged prime beef. In fact most of the top chains, including Morton's and Ruth's Chris, don't carry the higher end dry aged beef (they serve mostly wet aged), with few exceptions. What makes it even better is that, although it certainly is far from inexpensive, it is less so than the high end chains.

Correction to my first post on this subject:

It is the only non-chain in the central Florida area that I know of that serves prime dry aged beef.

Morton's. Ruth Criss is expensive and soaked in butter. YUKK

Thanks

I've eaten in most of the chains and prefer Ruth Chris over the rest. But I've found that frequently there are regional or local steakhouses that are better. Once in Wisconsin I went to a steakhouse where they had a huge pit and you cooked your own steak. The steak was real good but cost as much as getting one cooked for me.

I love a ncie thick Tbone seared on the outside and nice and pink on the inside. Yum:icon_hungry:

Hi Melz,

Being a steak fan from Brooklyn, you may be familiar with Peter Luger's (widely considered NYC top steakhouse). Bern's Steakhouse is, in my opinion, the equal of Peter Luger's, at a better price. Nuff said! https://www.talkofthevillages.com/forums/images/smilies/icon_hungry.gif

Been to Peter Luger and if Berns is their equal I need to try it.

Thanks
