Current events just sort of makes one wonder, have we come so far (down) as to lose sight of the concepts the founding fathers had for our country? I know they have denigrated just in my life time, at a more rapid rate in the last 10 years or so.
By definition:

de⋅moc⋅ra⋅cy
/dɪˈmɒkrəsi/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [di-mok-ruh-see] Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun, plural -cies.
1. government by the people; a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system.

So the auto bail out bill gets killed last night, BY OUR REPRESENTATIVES, this morning the President says....never mind, c'mon over here boys, we will write you a check anyway. It failed last night because of one sticking point....the unions would not agree to wage concessions to bring them in line with Toyota/Honda/Nissan. We are at a total comp of $75 per hour (Oh my GOD!!!) VS the foreign companies $45 per hour.

Another example? Energy independence; when gas was $4 a gallon 75%+++ Americans were calling for drill here or anywhere in the US AND GET NUCLEAR GOING and WIND POWER and CLEAN COAL usage....do it all NOW....Congress went on vacation and as much as thumbed their nose at we the people. And not a word was said by we the people....and to date still nothing done.

How about pay to play politics in Illinois? What is the implication here regarding representatives doing the will of the people? Nothing.

We have allowed our freedoms to become governed by a very incestuous, inbred very small group of individuals. The criminal propensity within this small group is significantly higher than the general population. Yet we silently ALLOW it to continue.

Eventually something needs to be done even if it is only admitting we are really no longer a true democracy.

Party affiliation is a non issue...they are all the same....they all contributed and continue to contribute to the continuous downward trend.
