R. J. Gator's Closes All Locations, But Oviedo Stays Open

News came yesterday that R.J. Gator's, the South Florida-based chain, was closing all remaining locations. But that's R.J. Gator's Sports Bar & Grill, not R. J. Gator's Florida Sea Grill & Bar, which is the designation of the R.J. Gator's at Oviedo Mall.

I'm so glad they're staying open here. I love to go there with friends and play that trivia game, while gnawing on some wings. It's a fun time.

We don't need anymore places closing down.

Don't know about the trivia game but they have the best wings I have ever eaten.

Read all of the above comments and decided to go to RJ's after a round of golf this afternoon. We arrived there around 1 pm. After sitting at the table for 25 minutes before we were given menus, the waitress finally took our drink orders. After another 20 minutes, the 2 pitchers of beer finally came. Mind you, we came here for those wonderful wings that all of you have been talking about. She then took our order for the wings and a bowl of conch chowder. After another 10 minutes, she returned to tell us that they had run out of wings! How can you run out of wings at 2 in the afternoon! Although disappointed, we relented and ordered the fish fry and a Cuban. Our friends each ordered a burger. The burgers and the Cuban came in about 15 minutes, but my husband's fish fry came just as I finished my sandwich. We never did see the conch chowder. However, the waitress did return several times to ask if we wanted more beer! Needless to say, we won't be returning there. After golf our friends had suggested Beef O'Brady's but we like to patronize the Village places, so we insisted on RJ's. Won't be doing that again!

IMHO the trivia game and the drinks served while sitting at the bar are the only PLUS marks for this restaurant/bar.

My family tried to dine here once. My son is a vegan and the chef couldn't accommodate him. It took over an hour to determine that this restaurant had nothing to offer my son to eat. We left and went elsewhere.

I wouldn't have returned had it not been for friends inviting me for the trivia game. That was fun and the drimks were never ending.

So..if you're looking to drink a lot and play games, R.J. Gators is the place to go.
