In case you missed it, Senator Daniel Inyoue of Hawaii will be appointed to head the Senate Appropriations Committee to replace convicted felon Ted Stevens of Alaska who was not re-elected.

Given Hawaii's location, what do you think the chances might be that Inyoue willl be able to give new meaning to the term boatloads of money?

I have lived in Hawaii since 1967 and can assure you that the islands would not enjoy the good life style we have without Sen. Inouye and his partner in crime, Sen. Akaka.
If you look in the dictionary under "pork barrel", you will find their pictures.

Sen. Stevens, as a member of the minority, was not heading the Appropriations committee or any of its subcommittees.

Sen. Inyoue was already on the Appropriations Committee, and may by virtue of seniority become the ranking member of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee which Sen. Inyoue already chaired, but was junior in seniority to Sen. Stevens.

So, there really is no effective change in situation for Sen Inyoue - he has the same "hammer" in the coming session as he has in the present one.
