I was at the pool around noon and a family of four came in placed their towels and stuff on four "prime" pool side loungers and then promptly left to play tennis for 45 minutes. Fortunately the pool was not to busy.
Thoughts?

"Fortunately the pool was not too busy". Forget it.

When they returned did you say something? Just curious.
If that happened to me I admit I probably would not have said anything to the party that placed the towels and left. I don’t like confrontation, it usually leads to bad stuff. I say something, they come back with a snide remark, I escalate further, they escalate and before you know it, we’ve got the T-Birds and Pink Ladies all over again.

Very selfish IMO. You know like it their private pool.

Like the OP said, the pool was not busy. No harm, no foul.
Hey, remember the Marion County Sheriff (ridiculously!) said that everyone should pack heat. I know I am going to be extra careful in saved chair situations!:throwtomatoes:

well you could walk out with four new towels, or put them all on one chair.

The pool was a family pool and there was someone there from the recreation dept. checking ID's. If the pool and been busy I would have said something to this person.

I escalate further.
I agree it's tough not to respond, but that'd be the place to stop I think. Easy to say, hard to do, but if we all worked on that I think we'd have a less toxic society in general. I'm trying (and mostly succeeding) but I need to do better.

This is a tough one. Personally I'm not a fan of reserving chairs, they want to participate in two activities and want assurance they'll be able to have the best at both, while having no consideration for others. Besides, I think it's really tacky.

I am confused what is the issue? If the pool area was very busy and someone scooped up four lounge's that's one thing but since when is it offensive to set your towels down on four chairs/lounge's ? I would suggest that folks who are easily offended by this may want to not take a cruise because most lounge's around the pool are taken before the sun rises in the morning....I don't need no stinkin lounge:D

What does the word "Prime" exactly mean? Expand on that word and why would you care if they were in the loungers or in the pool or in the bathroom or playing tennis or horseback riding? What does it have to do with a person's (your) ongoing enjoyment of the activity of relaxing or swimming? I think this is why my wife is not happy when I don't take the bait to argue. I save it for important things, chairs saving in any way ain't one of those things. Maybe I'm wrong and I should seize up over small items...yeah that will improve my life. Not happening. How do you know those people didn't just suffer a loss of some type lately that was devastating and this was their first time out together. Change your mind now kemosabe? Live your own life.

One day I was in the pool earlier then the usual gang of us and someone had left towels on four poolside chairs. It wasn't an issue as the pool never got crowded and they never did show, but we sure had a good time making jokes about saving chairs for each other.
If it had been an issue of someone needing a chair was being denied one while 4 remained empty, I think i would have moved them to the fence or brought them to lost and found. After all we elderly people need to sit and who's to say they weren't forgotten there.
While we're on the subject of pools I have a hard time with people who move a chair so close to the shower to get the sun, that I can't rinse off. I'm tempted to say excuse me you might get wet and use it anyway. :p

Don't you think the person sitting in a chair by the shower knows he or she will get wet if someone wants to use the shower? So go ahead and use it!

I don't use the pools in TV but on a cruise ship if I want a chair or lounge that's been reserved with no owners in site I toss their towels and take the chair. I've done this on many cruises over many years without problem. Rarely does anyone return to reclaim their spot and when someone does I just ignore them. Nobody has ever said a word to me.

It's much more fun when you sit in a chair, hardly anyone there and 3 women ask where do you live this is a very busy pool and I should go to the one I live in. Are you a renter I hate renters. I love my response. I own three houses in three different villages. I can sit at any pool I want, and I am going to stay longer just to upset you and shorten your life. Sorry it's just rude people are so much fun

Wow, I don't doubt your comments, but I've never heard such rude comments at any of the pools we use, or anywhere else in The Villages.

Some pool people are very protective of their pool rights. And don't splash and get their hair wet. It's not all but they do have a welcome wagon that are just fun to watch. I have posted before about being asked why I am the pool do your are you visiting or renting? It happens.

I have NEVER heard you say anything negative before so I will PM my telephone number to you and if it ever happens again call me and I will drive over and beat them up.
Very surprising to hear this and I don't doubt it happened for one second just reading your comments for many years. You are one of the most credible posters on here all of the time and helpful and very smart too.
P.S. I don't know if I can beat anyone up because I have never tried but for you I would come and stammer around and cry like I usually do when I am mad.

Aaaahhhh thanks, GG. I got this. Crabby people die young. Today the rift was(same women) the guy down the street was dating someone half his age, his wife must be rolling over in her grave. So funny how people get their panties in a bunch over someone new at the pool or the poor widow who finally has someone to talk to. I still find them amusing.

Perhaps some day you will be confronted by a person experiencing lounge rage. Perhaps if you are lounging in this earlier claimed lounge you might find yourself face down after being tossed. Saving seat, etc is in the realm of the lawless and anything could happen because right is might in some people's minds

As a general rule, I think rude, entitled, and greedy people suck; however, I do try to choose my battles. Most likely, I'd let karma get them, but I'd have new towels, too! :P
