We have a friend and his wife who will be visiting us after the first of the year. He will be flying in from NJ in a Piper Arrow. I know Leesburg is the closest full service airport. He asked me about private airports, airstrips or air parks close to TV that will accommodate his stay with us. My wife is also a licensed pilot and would like to do some flying during their stay with us.

I have seen the sign for Dallas Airport on Route 42 near 301. I also passed a residential air park development just East of Route 441. We will be checking them out. Does anyone have any information regarding these two sites or any other airport or airfield that will accommodate private aircraft for a few days.

Thanks

I suspect the park east of 441 that you mentioned is Love's Landing Aviation Park (code is, I believe, 97FL), accessed off Marion County Road east of the Florida Carriage Museum.

Love's Landing is indeed a private, gated aviation community. Landowners there must fly, and it is "expected" that your hangar be bigger than your dwelling!

I know because my brother lives there, and has for almost ten years. They're a great bunch of folks.

There are no facilities, other than what each individual may have - no tower, no fueling, no tie-downs, etc. There are two grass runways (18/36 and 9/27). They host a general public fly-in a couple times a year (April & November, usually); last month's event attracted better than 125 aircraft!

There's a comparable park called Leeward, a little closer to Ocala.

You can pm me if you'd like more info!

Thanks for the leads and pm's. Villagers are the greatest.
